Job Title: Technician - Vehicle Exercise

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Technician to join our team and train regular drive team members on exercising various weapons systems. The role involves maintaining safe work practices and performing minor rework tasks, addressing LAV vehicle deficiencies, and providing support to field service representative mechanics. The ideal candidate will conduct operator-level vehicle preventative maintenance checks and services and assist in the movement of vehicles as required.

Responsibilities

• Train regular drive team members to exercise various weapons systems.

• Maintain safe work practices.

• Perform and oversee minor rework tasks and address LAV vehicle deficiencies.

• Provide support to field service representative mechanics.

• Conduct operator-level vehicle preventative maintenance checks and services.

• Move vehicles as required.

Essential Skills

• Experience in mechanics, repair, and retrofitting.

• Proficiency in blueprint reading, mechanical assembly, and hand tool usage.

• Experience in installation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• College diploma or equivalent military certification.

• Ability to obtain a Driver's DZ License.

• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Canadian Firearms Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).

• Previous LAV repair and maintenance experience with GDLS-C products is an asset.

• Previous military experience in a Land Combat Arms unit as a maintainer is preferred.

• Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, DMIS/Oracle, and ASAT.

• High level of oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to obtain/maintain a valid passport.

• Valid Driver's DZ License.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job and anthropometrical size requirements for confined space.

• Proficient communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.

• Ability to perform well in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Work Environment

The work schedule consists of shifts from Monday to Friday, either from 6am to 2:30pm or from 2:30pm to 11pm. The job is performed in a shop environment with medium supervision, requiring some self-directed work. Employees will encounter hazards including heavy machinery such as fork trucks and cranes, noise, dust, paint, and temperature fluctuations. The role involves various physical postures including standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, bending, lying down, and reaching at working heights ranging from below floor level to overhead. Tasks inside the vehicle require working in confined spaces, and vertical clearance under the vehicle is approximately 65 cm. Employees may need to climb on/off vehicles and work in static postures for extended periods.
