Do you want to be a part of our Shopper Technology team at the LEGO Group?

We are looking for Software Engineer to join our growing team based in London to help support our teams building the digital retail experience at the LEGO Group including our digital flagship, LEGO.com.

Core Responsibilities

Our engineers work in interdisciplinary product teams each arranged around a clear product goal with responsibility for delivery of their own product roadmaps. The core responsibilities for a software engineer are:

  • Collaborate with other software engineers, product managers and digital designers to deliver both new functionality and iterative improvements to our Shopper Technology platform.

  • Build efficient and reusable applications and services using JavaScript / TypeScript. Our platform is based on a Next.js / GraphQL front end and back end Node.js microservices running in AWS.

  • Provide technical guidance/informal coaching to other engineers to enable their professional development

  • Lead code reviews with other engineers

  • Identify and resolve scalability and performance issues

Working closely with the whole product team, our Software Engineers play a vital role in securing the quality, security and stability of our digital retail experience. We are working from the offices 3 days per week.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Significant commercial experience building cloud-native microservices in AWS - our event-based services layer utilises Node.js and is built mainly on the AWS Serverless stack including Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Kinesis and DynamoDB

  • Experience building, supporting and monitoring production APIs - REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI

  • Expert knowledge of modern JavaScript-focused frameworks and technologies – Node.js, Next.js framework, React and associated libraries and tooling including GraphQL (Apollo), Webpack, Babel and Jest

  • Expert knowledge of CSS with a solid focus on accessibility and cross-browser compatibility – experience with CSS-in-JS is strongly preferred

  • Previous experience of working with optimising front end performance for mobile devices

  • Commercial experience with modern CI/CD and engineering tooling – we use Amazon Web Services, GitHub Actions and CDK/Terraform extensively
