Job Description

Are you a Senior Project Manager looking to work on building projects that can change the world, projects that are always more complex and innovative than the last?

If so, we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team in London to work on one of our Central London mixed-use commercial and residential developments. You will be joining a team of like-minded experts who have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions.

About Our Team:

Our AECOM Construction and Logistics Services (CLS) team in London has vast experience of planning, managing and generating solutions for construction projects. We work with clients from the inception of projects to ensure that the delivery plans are achievable, and all practical factors have been considered. We have an in-depth understanding of the logistical aspects of developing a masterplan. We have a close eye on detail identifying potential risks early and developing mitigation strategies to prevent delays and cost overruns.

We work on projects across the UK to help tackle some of the country’s biggest logistical masterplan challenges. They understand that the more coordination, logistics planning, and organisation, the less likely something is to go wrong. They realise the absence of site logistics planning can lead to bottlenecks and impact a project’s masterplan’s completion date in the long term.

Due to increased demand from our clients, we are looking for individuals with front-end construction experience, contract administration experience, and a balanced, robust, and reasonable approach to construction, procurement, and delivery.

Job Responsibilities:

You will need to manage and take ownership of all aspects of the project, proactively engaging with the client, construction and design teams to drive the project forward. You will be required to prepare succinct and accurate reports that look forward and identify clear actions and recommendations. Working as part of a team, you will be required to positively engage with the project management and design team and work collaboratively to address risks and avoid claims and disputes whilst maintaining meticulous records to allow you to quickly respond to issues arising and form an informed and balanced opinion having due regard to the building contract

Additional responsibilities

  • Generate phasing logistics plans to show how projects could be undertaken and constructed safely and efficiently based on the information available.

  • Produce Outline Construction Management Plans as well as Site Demolition and Plot specific Logistic Plans, Outline Highway Traffic Plans (TM) in line with the masterplan infrastructure needs coordinated with other statutory services day to day operations within the vicinity of the project.

  • Produce Contractor Rules Books on how the Contractors are to behave, access and manage their works so as not to unduly trouble external parties in and around the development.

  • Develop Construction Programmes and be able to use ASTA PowerProject and MS Project.

  • Attend Client meetings and demonstrate presentation skills (including visual presentation) to inform the Client’s team of methodology and logistics.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Qualification – ideally Construction / Engineering/ Master’s Degree

  • Chartered Status with the MCIOB or other equivalent institution

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience on large scale developments contractor side, solving logistical constraints at the pre-construction stage.

  • Have experience of dealing with Local Planning Authorities, Clients / Developers, Planning Specialists, and Principal Contractors – to work collaboratively.

  • Able to generate Stakeholder Plans in conjunction with the client communication teams to deal with correspondence from external parties.

  • Can write Scopes and Programmes from design information.

  • Produce a fully logically linked programme from procurement inclusive of design, approvals, lead in periods and construction activities.

  • Able to interrogate construction schedules and programmes; monitor tender and pre-construction progress against established schedules.

  • Ability to produce formal reports and documents which clearly set out complex issues and recommendations.
