The Senior LNG Derivatives Trader (CERT) is part of the team that is accountable for financial trading (futures, swaps, options) interface of Shell LNG Marketing & Trading (SLMT) organization. The desk services hedging requests from the physical SLMT Trading desks in Singapore, Dubai, and The Hague, and some other Shell affiliates. The individual is expected to provide risk management advisory on key markets to the physical desk and to generate value from proprietary position taking.

Trades are on a range of underlying indices; in particular, but not limited to JKM (Japan / Korea Marker for LNG), Brent, Henry Hub Natgas and European Gas (NBP, TTF), JCC (Japanese Crude Cocktail) and LNG FFA.

What’s the role?

Accountabilities/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Execute trades to service all requests of other SLMT trading desks for derivatives and offer quality execution of trades.

  • Advise SLMT LNG Trading desks with regards to risk management of total SLMT price exposure.

  • Develop proprietary trading strategies to generate a meaningful return on risk.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with large number of trading counterparties including internal, external counterparts and brokers.

  • Progress and help drive desk ambitions in quantitative research and/or options management.

  • Onboard new instruments, internal customers and external counterparties.

  • Support development of the next generation of financial traders of SLMT.

  • Ensures compliance with Regulations, Governance, Risk and Assurance policies.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from candidates with significant years of experience in derivatives trading with a track record of value generation in proprietary trading. Besides these, we would also like to see the following:

  • Expert knowledge in risks management tools and technique.

  • Expert knowledge of derivatives markets, fundamental and technical analysis.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory rules and policies with a good compliance track record.

  • Ability to perform under pressure with no errors.

  • High numeracy with good analytical capability

  • Very good communication and relationship management skills.

  • Good to expert product knowledge in at least one of the following instruments (JKM, Crude, European Gas, US Gas) a strong plus.

  • Good understanding of option pricing and trading. Quantitative background and expert knowledge a strong plus.

  • Derivatives execution experience with strong familiarity with ETRMs (ENDUR/Aligne/DEX) a strong plus.
