Citigroup Senior Event Project Manager - VP in London, United Kingdom

Role Introduction / Overview:

An accomplished and seasoned event subject matter expert and established trusted advisor with exceptional event management, project management and execution skills for best-in-class events.

Business / Team Overview:

The Global Event Marketing team is comprised of dedicated professionals and skilled event managers who work across geographies and businesses to create, plan and execute meetings/events that achieve business goals.​​​​​​​

The Event Marketing Senior Project Manager is responsible for owning relationships with stakeholders and business partners. They will take a lead role for an assigned project team with project planning, coaching individuals, influencing stakeholders and budgeting for events that enable Citi’s strategic vision. This role requires strong collaboration and influencing skills, highly developed communication skills, with strong ownership and focus. The role also requires experience working with cross cultural teams and stakeholders across geographies and time-zones to support the delivery of high-quality events.

Some of the key responsibilities in the role:

  • Own and manage all elements of an event from conception to measurement, including but not limited to strategy, project management, vendor negotiation and management, production, event registration, data gathering/reporting, cross-business partnering and ROI, creating event marketing efficiencies for Citi across all business units.

  • Collaborate and own relationships with business partners to influence at multiple levels, without authority to help drive results and capture cost savings working closely with business-aligned marketing teams. Move easily between generating ideas, driving process improvements to evaluate overall event value to the business.

  • Lead the assigned project team without authority to build a collaborative working environment, build credibility and trust, define clear roles and drive results. Provide mentoring support to team members when needed to ensure their success and supervise on-site/ project team in all facets of event execution.

  • Partner with colleagues and vendors on details regarding partnership, management and execution. Review and negotiate contracts to receive the best possible rates and terms. Excellent negotiating skills are a must.

  • Maintain accurate budgets for events that will generate ROI and manage metrics reporting details with regular reporting to business partners.

  • Support all Citi Operating Expense Governance Policy initiatives, event risk evaluation’s; reconcile program invoices and event final cost reporting.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance, rules and regulations and adhering to Policy. Escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

What knowledge, skills and experience we’ll need from you

  • A seasoned Event Manager with expansiveevent marketing experience from a financial or professional services background. Must possess strong project management, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Proven track record in managing and executing complex, high profile events with a range of attendees, budgets and functionality.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and influencing without authority to serve as a strategic event partner.

  • Collaborative team play orientation committed to the team’s success and willing to work with colleagues and external partners in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

  • Ability to handle multiple high visibility projects simultaneously, the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.

  • Knowledge of latest event trends, industry innovations and technologies.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal and written. Must have proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of an additional language would be an advantage.

  • Flexibility in work hours - must be able to work non-traditional hours and weekends and have a flexible travel schedule when required.

  • Must be willing to travel 25-35% of time including outside of London.
