Citigroup Markets Issue Management and Governance SVP in London, United Kingdom

Team / Role Overview:

The Markets Controls and Regulatory Management function is seeking an SVP within the Markets Issue Management team that is responsible for supporting overall issue management, including governance, quality control, quality assurance and supporting 2nd and 3rd line audits/reviews. This role will primarily focus on issue management and governance, including ongoing support and associated reporting, across the full lifecycle of Markets owned remediation. The role integrates in-depth knowledge of enterprise issue management policy/framework, control design principles and effectiveness, quality control methodology and change management with a solid understanding of the effective partnership required across the first, second and third lines to complete remediation timely, effectively and sustainably.

The role will support on time and effective remediation via engagement with peers within the Markets business and will also require extensive interaction and partnership with cross functional stakeholders across the first and second lines. This includes facilitating engagement through to relevant Markets and enterprise issue management governance forums, remaining closely engaged with the 2nd/3rd LoDs, Operational Risk Management, Global Regulatory Management and the issue management teams at the enterprise level and other functions/lines of business for increased alignment, connectivity and consistency.

What you'll do:

  • Support effective issue management, including issue identification, root cause analysis/evaluation, remediation, closure, monitoring, reporting, change management and escalation to promote comprehensive, consistent, accurate, and timely issue resolution

  • Manage Markets issue management governance and oversight meetings and inputs/outputs to other relevant governance groups to drive and track remediations (requiring strong communication, influence skills and diplomacy)

  • Interpret, credibly challenge and communicate issue management policy requirements (and associated standards/procedures) to ensure conformance

  • Partner with Issue owners to drive holistic corrective actions, provide guidance and to ensure appropriate escalation in according with Issue Management and Escalation Policies

  • Perform issue read-across assessments and partner with Markets cross products and risk stripe owners, cross functions and lines of business to develop approaches for addressing broader corporate/thematic emerging issues

  • Implement transformation deliverables/requirements prescribed by Enterprise Issue Management and ensure product engagement on issue life cycle needs

  • Perform ‘Executive’ reporting over Scorecard and high severity/prioritized issues and track and monitor other ‘key metrics’

  • Partner closely with Markets risk stripe owners and MCA Controls team, Enterprise Issue Management, Operational Risk Management and Internal Audit to understand and converge issue/MCA mapping methodologies

  • Lead or participate in multiple and concurrent issue management enhancement / transformation initiatives to remediate identified gaps

  • Partner closely with the Markets Reporting/Analytics team on issue management central reporting needs/tooling

  • Manage project completion, special assignments, and other ad hoc activities as required

  • Act as a subject matter expert providing support to stakeholders and control functions on an ad-hoc basis

  • Advanced analytical skills with strong critical thinking and aptitude to implement technical/regulatory requirements

  • Strong experience in developing impactful reporting

  • Issue Management framework and lifecycle experience a plus

  • Ability to both work independently and collaborate with team members

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills and capability to handle multiple projects at one time

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other analytics applications a plus (e.g., Tableau Prep/Creator)

  • Demonstrated knowledge in area of focus

  • Experience facing off to audit and understanding of audit methodology is preferred.
