The role:

To uphold and help deliver Corndel’s learner support policy, as well as training staff to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity throughout Corndel.

To improve the processes and ways of working, that positions Corndel as the provider of choice and continue the company’s commitment to excellence in neurodiversity, accessibility, and learner support, providing learners with equal opportunity to succeed.

Responsibilities include:

  • To provide administrative support for the Cognassist process for all Corndel’s apprenticeship provision to ensure maximum support is provided to apprentices to meet their learning needs and contribute positively to timely learner progress and achievement.

  • To improve and maintain engagement in learning support/Cognassist to maximise learner impact and funding income for all apprentices declaring learning needs.

  • To maintain close links and ensure effective communication with all appropriate departments at Corndel and be the representative for external stakeholders in relation to apprenticeship learning support/Cognassist.

    Key activity:

  • Promote the importance of learner support within Corndel

  • Uphold positive views of neurodiversity to reduce stigma surrounding learning needs

  • Refer learners to Cognassist and overview completion of the neurodiversity assessment

  • Support and liaise with Cognassist to mitigate any technical issues

  • Create an individual learning plan for learners with additional needs

  • Hold 121 sessions with learners to discuss their results and provide strategies to support neurodiversity to ensure completion of EPA and Maths and English assessments

  • Adapt to ESFA rule changes in relation to measurement of ‘impact’ during apprenticeship period

  • Develop and adapt resources to suit individual learner requirements

  • Create and provide interactive resources and innovation to engage, stimulate, motivate, and challenge individuals to meet their agreed English & Mathematics targets

  • Work closely with PDEs/Coaches and Tutors to provide them with strategies to support the learner

  • Effectively communicate with PDEs/Coaches and Tutors to negotiate learner support strategies and agree on advice

  • Deliver training to cohorts to support with revision and study techniques

  • Monitor attendance of learners liaising with other personnel where applicable

  • To achieve a monthly engagement target of 45 sessions in line with Corndel KPIs

  • Use motivational dialogue to engage the learner in the learning process

    Training

  • Ensure operations’ staff understand the process and have an understanding of neurodiversity

  • Deliver training sessions to ensure operations’ staff know how to support a learner with neurodiversity needs and understand the learner support process

  • Provide specialised and tailored support

  • To deliver Learning Support and Cognassist staff training to new staff and deliver update training to all relevant staff as required and support new staff to attend Cognassist training

  • To be an ambassador for the Cognassist product, working with colleagues both internally and externally to ensure the benefits of learning support and the Cognassist system are communicated and are fully understood by learners and the apprenticeship team

    Compliance

  • Maintain and update the Cognassist system, in liaison with the Contracts Team to ensure the system is up-to-date and ensure learners removed if inactive and staff are allocated correctly to their learners

  • Keep Aptem systems up to date for accurate data reporting

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all learners and colleagues you are responsible for or encounter

  • Maintain confidentiality always and ensure that company information is not disclosed to third parties

  • Maintain documentation systems relevant to the progress of the individual ensuring reviews and learning plan accurately reflect learner targets, reviews and progression;

  • To regularly report progress to the Learner Support Coordinator and Director of Skills for Business via reports and attendance at meetings

    Experience and Skills:

    Essential:

  • Qualifications relating to learner support needs (i.e. dyslexia/dyscalculia/ADHD)

  • Experience of working with learners in a support capacity and with application of reasonable adjustments

  • Strong administrative skills and organisation

  • Experience of working with a range of learner levels

    Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Cognassist and the system software involved

  • Qualifications relating to IAG

  • Understanding of reasonable adjustment policies and examination flexibilities

  • Experience of applying multiple support strategies
