Basic Function
The Gasoline Trader will be responsible for developing trading opportunities within the Europe Commercial business, focusing on generating value through physical opportunity trading and blending, global arbitrage opportunities, and utilizing financial derivative instruments to complement their physical forward view.
Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Creating value through buying, selling, and blending of physical gasoline, gasoline components, and naphtha within ARA, NWE, and Med markets.
Express market view/take risk via speculative derivative instruments.
Capture storage and global arbitrage opportunities.
Build strong internal relationships within the Global Commercial organization and with our key internal customers (Refining and Marketing)
Build strong relationships with external trading counterparties in order to understand their requirements, strategies, drivers, and business portfolio and market views.
Communicate market intelligence to key internal customers.
Negotiate term and spot contracts at multiple locations.
Provide cover for other Clean Products Traders as required.
Enter and maintain contracts in SAP.
Critical Skills/Leadership Criteria
Hold the legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions, or meet the relevant criteria for employer sponsorship.
Proven ability to make real-time commercial decisions that have a significant financial impact both independently and as part of the trading team
Knowledge/understanding of the international products markets
Understanding of risk/hedging tools to manage underlying positions
Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, counterparties, suppliers and consultants
Collaborative team player with ability to work constructively within a very close and often demanding team-working environment, and interact well with other parts of the group
Self-starter with desire to grow a business and develop their own role within it
Entrepreneurial mindset
Flexible; able to reassess market conditions and adjust market views accordingly
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Skills / Competencies
Previous Gasoline Blending and/or Naphtha trading experience
Proven ability to add significant value through trading expertise in the European markets, with experience of trading physical and financial products
Previous experience with gasoline/refinery operations
Knowledge/experience of marine issues pertaining to the movement of clean products.
Understanding of the characteristics of products and processes in terms of oil refining, including an appreciation of specifications, and global supply/demand economics.
Additional Information:
This role will require the wiliness to work various hours to manage communication across the globe and with key customers/suppliers. Some travel is required (10-20%)
