Citigroup Event Project Manager - AVP in London, United Kingdom

Role Introduction / Overview:

An experienced and high caliber Events professional who provides leadership, applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added advisory services, and project management for best-in-class events.

Business / Team Overview:

The Global Event Marketing team is comprised of dedicated professionals and skilled event managers who work across geographies and businesses to create, plan and execute meetings/events that achieve business goals.​​​​​​​

The Event Marketing Project Manager has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results with shared responsibility for planning and budgets. They may take a lead role for an assigned project team through direction of responsibilities, as well as coaching and providing direction for client, internal and training related events. The role requires excellent communication, stakeholder management, diplomacy and influencing skills. The role also requires experience working with cross cultural teams and stakeholders across geographies and time-zones to support the delivery of high-quality events.

Some of the key responsibilities in the role:

  • Manages or supports a portfolio of assigned event projects with day-to-day project management, logistics and execution, coordination with internal business partners, creating efficiencies and helping with the delivery of high-quality events across Citi’s businesses.

  • Collaborates with business partners on event brief, strategies and generates ideas to expand client perceptions to help drive results and capture cost savings. Develops and implements methods to evaluate overall event value to the business.

  • Coordinates with the event project team, internal and external partners, vendors to detail out the event plan including all logistics and it’s execution including venue, accommodation, transportation, audio visual equipment, etc. Reviews and negotiates contracts to receive the best possible rates. Excellent negotiating skills are a must.

  • Initiates development of web registration sites with web developer(s); reviews content to ensure accuracy; responds to attendee inquiries noted on registration forms; provides reports to business/ marketing partners on a consistent basis indicating changes or updates.

  • Maintains accurate budgets for events that help generate ROI and manage metrics details with regular reporting to business partners.

  • Ensures program branding (marketing materials, signage, and displays) at all events meet Citi requirements and marketing/branding guidelines.

  • Supports all Citi Operating Expense Governance Policy initiatives, event risk evaluation’s; reconcile project invoices including handling vendor payments and event final cost reporting.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance, rules and regulations and adhering to Policy. Escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

What knowledge, skills and experience we’ll need from you

  • Extensive event management experience from a financial or professional services background. Candidate should possess strong event project management and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience in managing and executing complex, high profile events with a range of attendees, budgets and functionality, simultaneously with limited supervision and guidance.

  • Collaborative team play orientation committed to the team’s success and willing to work with colleagues and external partners in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

  • Ability to work on own and execute projects without supervision and with short turnaround timelines.

  • Knowledge of latest event trends, industry innovations and technologies.

  • Ability to work on and handle multiple projects simultaneously, the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal and written. Must have proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of an additional language would be an advantage.

  • Flexibility in work hours - must be able to work non-traditional hours and weekends and must have a flexible travel schedule when required.

  • Must be willing to travel 25-35% of time including outside of London.
