Your opportunity

The Data Privacy Lead will be responsible for the governance and oversight of Data Privacy business processes under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other laws where required. As such, the Data Privacy Lead will, in accordance with defined responsibilities and processes, advise on and monitor data privacy compliance, advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments, investigate and assess privacy incidents.

The Data Privacy Lead will report to the Data Privacy Officer and work closely with the Information Security team, Records Governance, Compliance, Legal, and act as a Data Privacy liaison to all business areas.

  • Privacy SME on the UK Data Protection Act 2018

  • Privacy SME on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

  • Knowledge of APAC Privacy laws a plus

  • Manage Data Privacy operational team

  • Work closely with Marketing/Distribution and HR teams to understand applicable Data Privacy Laws

  • Ability to review and analyse new or amended Data Privacy laws/regulations and enforcement actions to identify what needs to be implemented to comply

  • Conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA)

  • Assist with affecting change beyond the Data Privacy Impact Assessment including controls are put in place and the data inventory is updated

  • Conduct vendor onboarding assessments and make recommendations to remediate concerns, as necessary

  • Participate in contract reviews/negotiations as needed

  • Oversee records of processing activities and manage escalation of high risk

  • Actively establish and maintain required processes for the Data Privacy team

  • Assist in driving Data Privacy risk management and improvement, including providing oversight of Data Privacy controls and testing the effectiveness of implemented controls where appropriate

  • Work with stakeholders on Data Privacy laws/regulations, compliance and risks as required (for example by providing input on any changes to scope in controls or processes required as a result of new local laws)

  • Manage individual rights requests

  • Recognize and appropriately deal with conflicts of interest

  • Assist with Data Privacy regulatory and auditory requirements e.g. assist the Data Privacy Officer with managing responses to requests from data protection authorities – information, inspection, and audit

  • Provide training to various Janus Henderson offices and business areas

  • Manage/investigate data privacy incidents and escalate to the Data Privacy Officer as needed

  • Carry out other duties as assigned

    Must have skills

  • CIPP/E a plus

  • Interest in technology solutions and how they relate to data privacy requirements

  • Experience in Data Privacy Programme management

  • Integrity and high professional ethics

  • Able to demonstrate a strong and successful track record of supporting businesses in Data Privacy role

  • Demonstrated ability to satisfy compliance requirements by taking a pragmatic and risk-based approach, being a strategic thinker and problem solver, and finding workable solutions

  • Ability to handle information and business affairs with secrecy and confidentially as appropriate

  • Translating technical requirements into business terms for executive stakeholders

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Demonstrable ability to recognize the relevance of risk trends, issues and potential risk exposure

  • Self-awareness and confidence to acknowledge knowledge gaps and seek to fill them from reliable sources

    Nice to have skills

  • Passionate about the Data Privacy domain

  • Project management experience as plus

  • Strong project management and strategic planning skills

  • Experience with IT security requirements, privacy and security risk assessments and best practices a plus
