The Role

  • Ability to understand a client or prospect’s business, situations, opportunities, problems, and key issues and understand appropriate solutions, structure, price, and placement strategies that meet the clients’ needs and deliver profitable business for a range of clients.

  • Ability to manage relationships and negotiate placement with the reinsurance market.

  • Prepare client and prospect presentations considering the impact of client profitability.

  • Work with other Account Executives and Sales Team in determining appropriate solutions and structuring and pricing the deal.

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospects including research, initiation of contact, meetings, responding to RFPs, CRM database!

  • Identify appropriate markets and create and grow relationships with underwriters in London and international markets.

  • Identify primary budget holders and judgement makers within clients, establish and maintain active relationships with these people.

  • Grow existing portfolio by identifying new new, and/or existing opportunities.

  • Stakeholder Management

  • Manage compliant processing of contracts as per FCA and contract certainty requirements.

  • Ensure correct upload and handling of slips via the PPL Platform.

  • Maintain information in Broking Platform system including record quotations, indications, and declinatures when marketing insurance business via the Broking Platform

  • Provide feedback on corrective action required to retain clients or enhance process performance, actively supporting the implementation of any actions that are put in place.

The Requirements

  • Preferably ACII qualified or working towards the ACII qualification.

  • Preferably fluent in second language

  • A proven track record in Insurance Broking or Underwriting. A good knowledge of the reinsurance market

  • Experience across retail, reinsurance, and retrocession property placements as well as any other LOB experience will be greatly useful in this segment of the portfolio.

  • Computer specific skills: excel, power point, word.

  • Good communication, negotiation, quick learner, and interpersonal skills

  • Good presentation abilities.

  • Negotiation skills coupled with the ability to be flexible and innovative.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

  • Able to prioritise, manage deadlines and work under pressure.

  • Ability to adapt personal style to work effectively with a wide range of clients, colleagues, and underwriters.

  • Must be prepared to work with integrity and openness, always complying with FCA requirements.

  • Good IT skills with excellent Excel usage capability including:

  • Broking Platform / PPL / FMA

  • MS Office

  • Power BI

  • PQ / RIC
