Compliance Advisory is responsible for leading and delivering quality regulatory advice to the bank and securities business activities of MUFG in London and EMEA. Compliance Advisory is the interface between Compliance and the Front Office businesses ensuring excellent engagement on all regulatory matters relevant to the business activities conducted.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • This is a high visibility role that will see you build and manage relationships with the private side businesses the advisory team supports. You will have direct exposure to all levels of the business and will be the primary contact for key business areas of strategic importace to the MUFG franchise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will be acting across MUFG’s banking arm and securities business under a dual-hat arrangement. Under this arrangement you will make decisions on behalf of both the bank and the securities business, subject to the same remit and level of authority, irrespective of the entity which employs you.

Job responsibilities:

To provide advisory coverage across all Private Side businesses, including the Investment and Corporate Banking teams, Capital Markets, Transaction Banking and Structured Solutions.

  • Provide support to the Head of Private Side Advisory and the broader team in all advisory matters

  • Participate in the conduct of internal and external enquiries and investigations as necessary

  • Participate and support local and global projects and drive the operational implementation of key regulatory change initiatives

  • Provide training to the Private Side businesses on conduct and regulatory matters

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Sound compliance experience within a Front Office advisory role in an investment banking organisation

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of capital markets, structured finance and other investment banking products, including loans, bonds and structured finance.

  • Strong knowledge of risk, compliance and controls

  • Strong understanding of key regulations, including MiFID II, MAR, Competition Law

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Sharp intellect with the ability to grasp complex concepts

  • Ability to challenge independently and constructively, where appropriate in order to achieve engagement and drive resolution

  • Ability to act autonomously when appropriate and know when to escalate matters

  • Highly organised, goal oriented and solutions focused

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Strong educational background with a university degree preferably in Law and/or Financial Regulation
