About the Role: Diagnose and troubleshoot all processes and functions of a Maintenance department, and work with regional staff to correct and improve the location. Extensive travel is required, often on short notice, to different sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit of location and develop action plan for sustained improvements.

  • Evaluate and aid the development of location maintenance management.

  • Approves priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and requirements of scheduled operations.

  • Helps to ensure that company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.

  • Controls and monitor’s inventory.

  • Ensures the location has proper inventory controls and audit process.

  • Evaluate the location safety policies and procedures for the department; maintain a safe working environment.

  • Evaluate the location budget adherence and make recommendations.

  • Identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods.

  • Ensures that property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized.

  • Project manage action plans to achieve deliverable results within specific time limits.

  • Review contract and policy compliance.

  • Undertake other duties at the request of the SVP Maintenance as required.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.

Education Preferred: Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and airbrakes endorsements preferred.

Experience:

Field and years of experience required: 7 years or more of progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy duty automotive and transit equipment including at least 3 years of supervisory experience.

Experience preferred:

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy duty transportation vehicles.

  • Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.

  • Ability to read, interpret and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams.

  • Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence.

  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to collaborate well with all stakeholders.

Skills and Knowledge Preferred:

Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent) <90%

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT physical examination.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear.

  • Frequently required to sit.

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and smell.

  • Frequently required to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
