How you will make an impact:
Thermo Fisher Scientific is looking for a motivated individual to be a Staff Engineer in the Electrical Systems department. As part of the Single-use division's R&D team, you will help develop equipment and systems used by manufacturers in the biological therapeutics and vaccines industry.
What you will do:
Be responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of complex systems and solutions based on project requirements and objectives.
Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to define system requirements and specifications.
Conduct system analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to ensure the successful integration and operation of systems.
Coordinate and lead all aspects of system testing, verification, and validation activities to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.
Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges throughout the system development lifecycle.
Stay updated with new technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement in product implementation.
How you will get here:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, systems engineering or related field with 8+ years’ experience, or Master’s degree or equivalent experience with 6+ years’ experience in hands-on product design and development.
Experience
Experience in electrical system design
Experience in PCBA Design a plus
Proven track record with handling vendors, contract manufacturers, and design firms
Value engineering, process development, should-cost modeling experience, DFA/DFM/DFx experience, and PI&D drawing creation
Experience developing electromechanical devices supervised by third party agencies such as NSF, CSA, UL, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proficiency in PCBA CAD Design software; Altium, SolidWorks, Pro/e, or equivalent
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with customers
Sophisticated technical writing skills to produce reports and documents
Physical Requirements:
Office environment
Ability to sit at a computer for extended amounts of time
Ability to move about the facility
