How you will make an impact:

Thermo Fisher Scientific is looking for a motivated individual to be a Staff Engineer in the Electrical Systems department. As part of the Single-use division's R&D team, you will help develop equipment and systems used by manufacturers in the biological therapeutics and vaccines industry.

What you will do:

• Be responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of complex systems and solutions based on project requirements and objectives.

• Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to define system requirements and specifications.

• Conduct system analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to ensure the successful integration and operation of systems.

• Coordinate and lead all aspects of system testing, verification, and validation activities to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.

• Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges throughout the system development lifecycle.

• Stay updated with new technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement in product implementation.

How you will get here:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, systems engineering or related field with 8+ years’ experience, or Master’s degree or equivalent experience with 6+ years’ experience in hands-on product design and development.

Experience

• Experience in electrical system design

• Experience in PCBA Design a plus

• Proven track record with handling vendors, contract manufacturers, and design firms

• Value engineering, process development, should-cost modeling experience, DFA/DFM/DFx experience, and PI&D drawing creation

• Experience developing electromechanical devices supervised by third party agencies such as NSF, CSA, UL, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Proficiency in PCBA CAD Design software; Altium, SolidWorks, Pro/e, or equivalent

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with customers

• Sophisticated technical writing skills to produce reports and documents

Physical Requirements:

• Office environment

• Ability to sit at a computer for extended amounts of time

• Ability to move about the facility
