Overview

The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) at Utah State University is looking for a professional and experienced Marketing and Communications Coordinator to work in a small, team-based office environment. This position will report to NEHMA's Coordinator of Events and Visitor Services and will be responsible for managing public relations and marketing efforts, including overseeing social media accounts. As part of a small team, the coordinator will be responsible for a variety of PR/marketing tasks related to the museum's exhibitions, collections, and numerous programs.

 

This position is hybrid telework eligible within the state of Utah. 20 Hours/week required. Telework outside of the state of Utah is subject to review and approval by the University prior to a job offer being extended.

 

Responsibilities

Gain an understanding of the artwork and exhibitions to articulate information in a concise, accessible manner.

Design skills to create videos and flyers.

Manage social media platforms to promote Museum exhibitions and events.

Update public event calendars.

Update NEHMA website on a regular basis.

Work with staff to gather event information and ensure it is shared promptly.

Coordinate with the Director, Coordinator of Event and Visitor Services, and staff to draft press releases on time. Work with PR/Marketing firm on these releases and needs for national press coverage. Work with USU Central PR/Marketing for review and dissemination. Serve as the Museum's press contact when needed.

Consider the potential audience for various exhibitions and programs, then develop strategies and actions to target the museum's programs to those audiences.

Develop and disseminate a monthly newsletter using MailChimp.

Track all expense receipts and related data for reporting and review.

Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree

Proficiency in design editing software

Relevant experience in writing for media in a professional context, creating press releases, public calendar postings, and/or marketing

Exceptional and demonstrable written communication skills

Proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience with company workflow and financial software

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Experience working in a non-profit, university, or museum setting

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Self-driven with the ability to take feedback and direction

Excellent organizational skills

Exceptional verbal communication skills alongside a positive and professional disposition

Takes initiative

Enjoys working as part of a team

Extremely well-organized and a self-described multi-tasker
