McLaren Engineering Product Engineer in Livonia, Michigan
DUTIES:
This position will play an integral part in McLaren's engineering department and requires candidate to be responsible for all aspects relative to the development, problem resolution, and design of new products, models, or mechanisms while addressing product development and design issues. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Designing Laser, CO2 and Electron Beam Welding processes and interfaces, supporting Development teams and Pre/Post launch programs to mitigate and/or correct process issues.
- Designing E-axle components to meet customer requirements. With a main focus in Laser, CO2 and Electron beam Welding of E-axle gear components to meet engineer customer requirements.
- Leading the creation, development, and release of engineering drawings and engineering specifications to meet customer deliverable timelines.
- Keeping detailed records, development process/procedures as well as transmitting information between customers and other stakeholders within the development program.
- Work with material experts on material selection and test technicians as well as quality engineers on developing requirements and test procedures to ensure robustness of projects.
- Communicating with and assisting manufacturing personnel in pre-production, production and post-production launch engineering issues, mainly specializing in material fusion processes and manufacturing practices. (Laser welding/Electron Beam welding on components in a manufacturing setting.)
- Communicating with and assisting manufacturing personnel in design, pre-production and production of helical gears and weldments for high-speed E-axle applications.
- Assist manufacturing facilities in developing welding processes through advance quality planning to mitigate potential failure/quality issues.
- Develop the necessary engineering processes to support McLaren's manufacturing process as it relates to customer requirements.
- Coordinating all applicable issues that pertain to the production of the department's products, while interfacing with other departments to determine root cause of customer quality issues as well as current process issues.
Develop action plans for correction and implementation of the U.S. Petitioner's product requirements as defined by customer specifications.
*REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering or equivalent engineering field and 24-months of experience with GD&T, dimensional tolerancing and tolerance stacks, DFMEA, DVPR and Control Plans.
Must also have twenty-four (24) months of experience writing technical specifications, validation test procedures and test reports. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and requirements for component design. Ability to prioritize and work multiple tasks to completion. Ability to collaborate and work in team environment
