Position Purpose: As a Hospice Chaplain, you will be a beacon of spiritual support and guidance within our ministry. You will address the spiritual needs of patients, families, and colleagues, focusing on spiritual distress, grief support, crisis intervention, and navigating significant life changes. Your role is integral to our holistic approach to healthcare, working alongside other caregivers to honor and respect the religious beliefs and values of those we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Transformative Spiritual Care: Provide spiritual care to patients, residents, participants, visitors, and colleagues, ensuring their beliefs and values are integrated into their healing process.

  • Assess and Address Spiritual Needs: Implement systems to evaluate and respond to the spiritual and ethical needs of those we serve, offering appropriate interventions and referrals.

  • Collaborate for Holistic Healing: Work as a full member of the inter-professional healthcare team, integrating spiritual care into the overall care plan.

  • Promote Community and Workplace Spirituality: Facilitate programs and opportunities for meditation, prayer, worship, and participation in religious sacraments, collaborating with faith leaders from various traditions.

  • Support Personal and Professional Growth: Plan and implement self-care programs to maintain a healthy work-life balance and resilience.

  • Ensure Compliance and Integrity: Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and Trinity Health policies, upholding the highest standards of ethical and professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in theology, religion, spiritual care, or spirituality, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience: 1-3 years of spiritual care experience, including Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training. Chaplaincy or spiritual care ministry experience preferred.

  • Certification: Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) preferred via APC, CASC, NACC, or NAJC, including a master’s degree from a CHEA-accredited institution, 4 units (1600 hours) of ACPE-accredited spiritual care education, and faith-based endorsement.

  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to work collaboratively in a shared leadership environment.

  • Personal Qualities: A presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire others.
