JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Nursing Supervisor is apart of the Leadership and Development Team. Facilitates the safe and effective functioning of the department as demonstrated by:

Interviewing and hiring of staff in collaboration with nursing leadership. Effectively managing and supporting team and individuals in alignment with RWJBH system values and RWJBH system and Site level policies and procedures. Promoting and supporting effective teamwork and collaboration. Identifying, planning and coordinating team and individual learning and development needs. Assisting with new employee onboarding and orientation to ensure successful completion of orientation.

Contributing to the professional growth and development of staff by:

Assessing staff knowledge and performance. Counseling staff on identified areas of improvement. Evaluating staff performance as demonstrated by the completion of performance appraisals. Supporting and maintaining collaborative relationships amongst staff and with all disciplines. Foster an environment of respect and positive communication. Administrative responsibilities include but are not limited to team/employee schedule oversight and time management/payroll for team and individuals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience

  • Prior supervisory or management experience

  • Relevant clinical experience

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities

  • Demonstrated teaching and mentoring skills

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to make decisions regarding the provision of care appropriate to the age of the patient cared for on his or her assigned units

  • BSN degree

  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • MSN desirable

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

  • ACLS

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time

  • Day shift

  • Monday Friday

  • 11am 7pm
