Job Summary:

Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) Catheter Lab specializes in Cardiac Cath, vascular, neurovascular (stroke) and structural heart procedures, as well as electrophysiology. Procedures performed in the Cath lab include the following: left and right heart catheterizations along with percutaneous intervention as necessary, intracoronary ultrasound, rotational atherectomy, balloon pump insertion, Impella insertion, left atrial appendage closure, catheter-directed thrombolysis for pulmonary embolization, structural procedures (TAVR, MitraClip), neurovascular cerebral angiograms, stroke treatment, carotid stenting, treatment of cerebral aneurysms with coiling and pipeline interventions, peripheral and renal angiograms with intervention as necessary, Watchmen, CardioMEMs, and Electrophysiology (cardiac devices, ablations, PVI s, laser lead extractions).

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited school or university

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree

  • 2-5 years relevant clinical practice

  • 1-2 years related management experience

  • A physical condition is required that permits reaching and mobility around the entire institution

  • Intact vision and speech are required as well as hearing sufficient to perform essential job responsibilities

  • Must be able to function under rapidly changing and stressful conditions

  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing degree preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time

  • Day shift

  • 37.5 hrs. weekly

Essential Functions:

The Director Patient Care reviews payroll and signoff. Completes daily schedule review of all cases. Tracks attendance of daily scheduled meetings in conjunction with communication with anesthesia/MDs. Review daily staffing to ensure adequacy for meetings, with a plan in place if there is insufficient staff. Operational planning for staffing and logistics after 5pm. Review and sign off of staff monthly schedule requests as well as vacation requests, and attendance. RN/ RT review of orientation, including nursing Education and Cath Lab manager. WQ reviews and addresses issues as needed. Assist with recruitment and retention. Daily rounding on patients. STEMI MD monthly schedule. Relieving breaks/coverage for staff as needed. Review of PG scores and comments with follow-up. Attend staff huddles. RN competencies/onboarding/ensuring necessary staff documentation on file and up to date.
