Labman Automation Laboratory Robotics Support Engineer in Liverpool, United Kingdom

Position: Laboratory Robotics Support Engineer Location: Materials Innovation Factory, Liverpool Salary From: £28,000 - £38,000 (based on experience)

Job Opportunity

Due to sustained growth Labman are seeking to recruit a Support Engineer to join our team in Liverpool.

Labman deliver bespoke robotic and software systems to major companies and public bodies across the world. The job will be challenging and dynamic with opportunities to work with a huge range of established and emergent technologies, providing you with opportunities to learn and develop your skillset.

You will be part of a small team of engineers based in our Liverpool office, with regular visits to Labman's headquarters in North Yorkshire and opportunities to travel within the UK and internationally.

Working with electro-mechanical assemblies, plumbing, pneumatics, robotic arms and a variety of scientific equipment. This role would suit an enthusiastic person who is keen to build on skills in a range of engineering disciplines, working through unique challenges with the assistance of remote specialist teams and documentation. Labman provide training and support with your professional growth so this position is open to a range of experience levels.

What the Job Involves

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and planned improvements.

  • Respond to system breakdowns and loss of performance.

  • Provide technical support both on site and remotely.

  • Fault finding and problem-solving with support from specialist teams.

  • Log and document all support work according to internal guidelines.

  • Identify upgrades and improvements of customer systems.

  • Build on Labman's reputation by collaborating professionally with the customer.

    Essential Capabilities

  • Knowledge & appreciation of science & technology.

  • Degree or Apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Robotics, Software or similar/applicable work-based experience.

  • Strong problem solving & fault-finding skills including decision making, clear communication, research & analysis skills (can you accurately assess problems and come up with effective solutions?).

  • Competent in IT and Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word.

  • Able to commute daily to the Materials Innovation Factory, Liverpool. (This is not a remote role).

  • Willing to travel to Labman HQ in North Yorkshire for training and development (approx. 4 days per month for the first 6-12 months of employment).

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and prioritise work.

  • Works well within a team, both in person and remotely.

  • Customer-oriented and positive attitude.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Driving license.

    Desirable skills / experience

  • Experience in a customer-facing role.

  • Electromechanical system diagnostics experience.

  • CAD experience
