As part of our continued UK growth strategy WSP currently has a vacancy for a CFD Modelling Engineer to join one of our teams based in London, Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds. The position involves working on a range of fast paced built environment projects using a mix of open-source and commercial CFD software.

You will be expected to provide input to CFD study design and methodology, and efficiently manage all aspects of modelling workflow, including; geometry, meshing, setup, simulation and post-processing, all while liaising with design teams, architects and clients to agree simulation inputs and feedback results.

You will have opportunity to apply your CFD modelling experience to a wide range of engineering problems within a dynamic and forward-thinking consultancy environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with signature architects on landmark and high-profile UK and international building projects.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated learner with excellent time management and problem-solving skills, and who works well both in a small team and directly with clients. The role is geared towards a candidate that appreciates diversity in workload, with a mindset to develop new and innovative solutions.

If you have an interest in furthering your career within engineering consultancy and have a good understanding of the application of CFD modelling techniques to a range of engineering problems relating to the Built Environment then we’d love to hear from you.

Your experience should include knowledge that can support the delivery of some or all of the following typical range of modelling workflows:

Urban wind flow

Thermal comfort analysis

Fire and smoke analysis

Pollutant dispersion

Hydrodynamics

A successful candidate will have a background that includes:

Postgraduate degree (PhD, MSc, MEng) in CFD or related field such as Aeronautics / Mechanical Engineering / Fire Engineering / Sustainable Design / Data Science

Experience of CAD packages for geometry creation (ie. Rhino, Inventor, etc)

Working knowledge and experience of the following would be a distinct advantage:

Commercial CFD codes such as STAR CCM+ or Fluent

Open source codes such as FDS and OpenFOAM

Some experience of Python or other programming languages an advantage

Some experience of Linux and HPC systems an advantage
