Suwannee River Water Management District Data Analyst III or Senior Data Analyst (One position) in Live Oak, Florida

[Job Summary: [The Data Analyst III and Senior Data Analyst are professional positions that collects, compiles, reviews, analyzes, and interprets data, and develops procedures for maintaining and integrating the Districts environmental data. This includes automation of data processes, analysis and reporting routines, developing quality control procedures, and assessing data needs and formats. This position assists multiple District offices including Hydrologic Data Services, Water Supply, Minimum Flows and Minimum Levels, Agricultural and Engineering Projects, IT/GIS, and Water Use Permitting.

  • Manages District water resource datasets, which may include hydrologic, agricultural, and water quality monitoring data. Serves as subject matter expert to other professionals on matters relevant to water resource data.
  • Manages the Hydstra database and data imports from mobile data collection platforms, District monitoring stations, and data imports from other agencies. Serves as the subject matter expert for the Hydstra database, and trains and mentors staff on the use of both introductory and advanced features in Hydstra.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and develops solutions for data management needs and processes required to support the work of other District offices, including Hydrologic Data Services, Water Supply, Minimum Flows and Minimum Levels, Agricultural and Engineering Projects, IT/GIS, and Water Use Permitting.
  • Contributes to the oversight, design, and modification of existing databases, designs applications and formats for data entry, and works cooperatively to ensure ongoing functionality of databases.
  • Supports and assists with review, quality control/quality assurance, and analyses of water resource data. Reviews and archives data processed by other staff as needed. Performs quality control and quality assurance of data as needed. Performs statistical analyses for broad datasets.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors standard operating procedures for collection and management of monitoring and associated data. Researches, identifies, and develops protocols for acquisition of external water use data sources for inclusion into the Districts water use database.
  • Constructs complex programmatic scripts for data analysis and maintenance, using Python and Perl programming languages.
  • Actively participates in and supports field data collection and training.
  • Assists with agriculture water use data compilation and reporting.
  • Creates and debugs Windows scripts and automates scheduled processes to run on the Districts server.
  • Serves as a mission critical part of the District Incident Command Team to ensure data backup and response specific to river and rainfall information, database management, and data inquiries.
  • Develops and manages contracts, task work assignments, and purchase orders of any amount.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
