The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Vice President of Cloud Infrastructure, Platforms, and Migration to lead our multi-cloud journey. This role is a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic leadership, focusing on driving cloud platform development, optimizing platform & infrastructure services, and enabling highly efficient & seamless workload migration. This is a heavily technical-focused role requiring hands-on leadership to shape the organization’s cloud journey across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
This leader will work alongside VP’s and SVP’s across different business units to establish and drive strategic initiatives in support of Lumen’s Multi-Cloud journey and exiting data centers. This role entails overseeing the development, testing, and enhancement of all aspects of the organization's IT systems. Additionally, it is responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure remains flexible, adaptable, and cost-effective by leveraging technologies such as DevOps, software-defined networking, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS).
The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical understanding of cloud infrastructure and platforms, with a service owner mindset to manage and migrate workloads efficiently.
The Main Responsibilities
Technical Strategic Leadership & Vision:
Define and execute the multi-cloud technical strategy to meet business objectives.
Align cloud initiatives with organizational goals and digital transformation efforts.
Technical Expertise and Infrastructure/Platform Management:
Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Provide hands-on technical leadership in building and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud platforms.
Oversee workload migration initiatives, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
Service Ownership:
- Act as the service owner for cloud platforms and migrations, taking end-to-end responsibility for service delivery, including reliability, performance, and cost management.
Cloud Governance & Compliance:
- Define and implement governance frameworks to enforce security, compliance, and operational best practices across all cloud environments.
Operational Excellence:
- Create and execute efforts to automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment pipelines, and incident response to enhance operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Build and mentor a high-performing team of cloud engineers, architects, and operations staff.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Partner with business units, application teams, and product owners to understand workload requirements and deliver tailored cloud solutions.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Experience:
15+ years in IT, with a minimum of 8+ years in cloud platform services and leadership roles.
Hands-on experience in managing multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Proven track record of successfully migrating workloads to the cloud in a complex enterprise environment.
Technical Expertise:
Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, and platform services.
Proficiency in cloud-native tools, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong knowledge of security frameworks, governance, and FinOps principles.
Leadership Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire technical teams.
They should be adept at long-term planning and development, ensuring that the company has the technical tools and equipment needed to meet both current and future operational needs
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect) are highly desirable.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$207,022 - $276,030 in all states.
