Summary

The Public Service Commission (PSC) Tax Division Valuation Analyst is responsible for determining property values of public utilities and carriers for ad valorem assessments. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Reviews, examines, and verifies financial information from bus and trucking companies in accordance with established policies and procedures of the tax division. Collects, processes, and validates information in the bus and trucking company database for valuation and property tax assessment and inputs data into the company database. Provides information and assistance to bus and trucking companies and state and county officials for licensing of company vehicles. Manages the work flow of data entry processing for reports on new bus and trucking companies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of research and analysis techniques. Knowledge of rules, regulations, and laws affecting the transportation industry. Ability to conduct research and compile data in report form. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and reports. Ability to analyze and interpret data. Ability to plan and organize work.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of experience in accounting, finance, economics, property tax assessment, or related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
