Akima NNSA Facility Support services Safety Manager in Little Rock, Arkansas

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has a requirement for a Safety Manager to be responsible for Facility Support Services. AFO is recruiting for two Safefy Managers to support this contract.

As a Safety Manager, you will lead and drive operational improvements in occupational safety, reporting, analysis, and investigations. With a strong focus on OSHA standards, regulatory compliance, and risk management, you will foster a safety-focused culture that enhances organizational safety records. Your role will involve establishing operating controls to ensure smooth operations during periods of significant change and growth.

Safety Manager will be responsible for safety management at Fort Smith, Arkansas, Office of Secure Transportation, Transportation Safeguards Training (TST).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage occupational safety programs, ensuring adherence to OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct thorough safety investigations and analyses, providing detailed reports and actionable recommendations.

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential hazards and improve workplace safety.

  • Develop and maintain a Site Specific Safety Plan (SSP).

  • Support Government investigations.

  • Conduct safety inspections.

  • Develop metrics and collect data regarding safety operations.

  • Perform and document a baseline hazard assessment in accordance with 10 CFR 851.21 Worker Safety and Health Program.

  • Maintain the following programs: comprehensive confined space entry, Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, industrial hygiene, fire protection, pressure vessel and pressure system safety, electrical safety, and permitting.

  • Investigate accidents and report.

  • Optimize safety processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Promote a culture of safety by leading by example and encouraging proactive safety practices among employees.

  • Establish and maintain operating controls to support seamless operations during organizational changes and growth.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into all aspects of the organization’s operations.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.

  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety standards, regulations, and best practices.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum of 4 years technical experience directly related to safety management support functions and possess an industrial hygienist certification (or) a safety professional certification from a credible board.

  • Strong expertise in risk management, process optimization, and incident investigation.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive improvements in organizational safety records.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to foster a safety-focused culture.

  • Skilled in developing and implementing safety programs and procedures.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about enhancing the safety and well-being of the workforce and the environment.
