MISO Energy Economic Studies Senior Engineer/Senior Planner in Little Rock, Arkansas
Description
As a Senior Engineer/Senior Planner – Economic Studies , you will play a pivotal role in analyzing transmission expansions to mitigate energy market inefficiencies through advanced production cost modeling tools. You'll also help shape the grid of the future by developing innovative solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and building strong partnerships with MISO stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
Perform transmission planning studies and design strategies to align with state and federal policy requirements.
Analyze operational scenarios in a simulated environment to identify potential challenges and opportunities.
Assess the financial advantages for companies exploring MISO membership.
Within your first year as a Senior Engineer/Senior Planner – Economic Studies , success will look like this:
You efficiently address external customer inquiries using tools such as Siebel, MS Dynamics, and shared email inboxes.
You create compelling and well-organized materials for presentations at PAC, PSC, RECBWG, and SPM stakeholder meetings.
You collaborate seamlessly with stakeholders and team members on data requests, showcasing strong decision-making and leadership skills.
You demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and growth by actively engaging in stakeholder interactions and seeking mentorship opportunities.
We are looking for talented professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in one of several engineering disciplines. Please refer to the list below for the qualifying degrees.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

Required
Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering
Bachelors or better in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Bachelors or better in Electrical & Computer Engineering
Bachelors or better in Electronics & Computer Engineering Technology
Bachelors or better in Electronics Engineering Technology
Bachelors or better in Electrical Engineering
Bachelors or better in Computer Engineering
Experience
Required
- At least six years’ engineering experience required.
Preferred
Related economic transmission planning, compliance, regulatory standards, or expansion planning experience (required) o Related Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) or Regional Reliability Organization (RRO) experience.
Experience with PROMOD, PROMOD Analysis Tool (PAT), PSS/E, Transmission Adequacy Reliability Assessment (TARA).
