CenterWell Area VP of Operations - West Region in Little Rock, Arkansas

Humana, a $100 billion (Fortune 50) leader in integrated healthcare, is currently seeking an accomplished senior leader for the role of Area Vice President of Operations in the Home Health business of its CenterWell subsidiary in the West Region. We provide care for patients in their homes who are managing a chronic condition or recovering from injury, illness, surgery, or hospitalization.

The Area Vice President of Operations will implement the operational strategy required to fulfill the region objectives, particularly in assuring sales and earnings growth, operational success, ongoing performance improvement, as well as compliance and regulatory adherence. They will work closely with various cross-functional areas at both the Regional and Corporate level to ensure achievement of overall Company objectives.

The Area VP of Operations will report to the CenterWell Home Health President of Operations for the West Region and will oversee the operations teams located in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Washington state. It is preferred that this person be located in one of the states within the West Region. Approximately 20% of travel should be expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assigned to specific market; manages Market Executives of Ops within market, including process and personnel management, achieving financial goals, etc.

  • Oversees and deploys Remote/Regional Clinical Managers as needed

  • Develops market plans, including growth strategies, budget, and annual planning; monitors market expenditures

  • Directs market billing and credit activities; reviews billing rates; coordinates with Business Service Center for accounts receivable activities

  • Reviews and analyzes market conditions, competitors, and business volume

  • Backfills for Market Execs. to oversee Branch Directors when ME role is open

  • Partners with Sales counterpart to ensure continued branch growth by expanding new and existing client base

  • Works closely with Clinical team to ensure quality deliverables

In general terms the ideal candidate will have extensive operations management experience (typically 8+ years), preferably in a multi-site, multi-state home health environment. This person will have demonstrable expertise in developing large-scale business strategy, along with a strong history of growth performance and budget achievements. He/she will have strong financial skills and proven ability to create practical solutions to address business challenges. Finally, this person will be a strong people leader with proven success in expanding and elevating the capabilities and performance of a multi-level team.

Key Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical (nursing, therapy), healthcare administration, business or related field required; Master's degree preferred

  • Experience with and understanding of the rules and policies of the Home Health industry

  • Experience with EMR and/or HIM systems

  • Outstanding leadership, managerial skills

  • 15 - 25 branch touchpoints per year (prioritize in-person visits when possible)

  • Approximate percentage of travel: 20%

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with many different roles (e.g., physicians, C- Suite, medical groups, etc.)

  • Outstanding leadership and managerial skills; strong executive presence

  • Good organizational and communication skills; a high level of engagement and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to coach / mentor Market Executives and RCMs

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$136,200 - $187,400 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
