The Opportunity:

Perform research, design and Software/Firmware development and utilize Electrical Engineering and RF skills in various aspects of wireless communications systems on multiple hardware platforms utilizing Linux and/or Unix-based operating systems. And also be responsible for complex analysis, design, development, integration/testing of software/hardware systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop design specifications needed to implement, test and document software/firmware solutions for communication systems and/or subsystems

  • Analyze, architect, design, implement, test and document software for complex communications systems, including automated testing

  • Support DevSecOps

  • Operate effectively and comfortably in an Agile team environment, as a team member and as a team leader as needed

  • Understand and adhere to all CACI Ethical and Compliance policies

  • Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to LGS EH&S policies and procedures

  • Perform other duties as required

  • Travel to other CACI Locations or Customer Sites as necessary

  • Retain a government security clearance at the level required to perform the duties of the position

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Active Secret security clearance

  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering

  • 5+ years of related experience, to include engineering and leadership, or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience

  • In-depth experience in software engineering and development for communications systems, architectural innovation and technical leadership

  • Broad experience with the software engineering process from requirements reviews, code inspection to component delivery and sign-off

  • Development experience on multiple hardware platforms utilizing either Linux or Unix-based operating systems

  • C and Assembly Programming

  • Experience working in both SW and HW domains

  • Ability to read and understand schematics

  • Low level debugging techniques (SW, probes, oscilloscopes)

  • CPU Embedded SW programming and development

  • Microcontrollers

  • TI MSP430 or similar

  • Experience developing Microcontroller firmware

  • Experience debugging Microcontroller FW SW functionality

  • Bootloaders development (U-Boot/GRUB/Barebox) for new ARM/x86 designs

  • HW initialization

  • Device drivers

  • Boot Loader application functionality

  • HW/SW integration activities

  • RF development

  • SDR Radio knowledge and actual experience

  • Knowledge of basic RF concepts and RF Amplifiers

  • Test automation experience

  • Experience with build/run systems, makefiles, scripting languages, and applied use of development tools (e.g. editors/compliers) and DevSecOps

  • Proven confidence debugging complex system-level issues with various lab equipment

  • Participation and leadership in an Agile development environment

  • Knowledge of Python Programming Language

  • Python packaging

Desired:

  • Linux Operating Systems development for new ARM/x86 designs

  • Linux Kernel, Driver, Device Tree, Filesystem development

  • Knowledge of Yocto development flow

  • Experience with OS bring up on new HW designs

  • Understanding of Linux multi process/multi-threaded/multi SMP processor programming

  • Experience with Container functionality and development

  • Understand and have Linux and non-Linux experience (from a HW and SW perspective) the following:

  • Ethernet 1G/10G, PCI, I2C MDIO, SPI, SPI Flash, Flash

  • Sensors - Temperature/ADC/DAC, GPS, PPS

  • Network configuration and development for new HW designs

  • L2 Switch functionality

  • Port configurations, subnets, VLANs

  • Experience in platform level SW Architecture development

  • C++, XML Programming

  • Object Oriented programming and design

Since this position can be worked in more than one location, the range shown is the national average for the position.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$74,600-$156,700
