WIN Waste Innovations Maintenance Mechanic 1st Class in Lisbon, Connecticut

Our WIN Waste Innovations facility is currently seeking an energetic, self-motivated Maintenance Mechanic who will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintain of mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner. The mechanics responsibilities may include but are not limited to initiates and completes work-orders and requisitions and documents all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis. Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required. Troubleshoot equipment, diagnose problems and repairs. Operate other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and completes work-orders and requisitions and documents all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis

  • Ability to use and become proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware)

  • Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime,

  • Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required and ability to be on call

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnose problems, and make necessary repairs

  • Operate mobile equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment

  • Perform Preventative maintenance activities and other routine maintenance and repairs around facility grounds

  • Identify and repair potential safety hazards

  • Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places

  • Ability to communicate effectively via radio using three-part communication

  • Actively participate and support operations functions as necessary, including but not limited to internal equipment inspections, fire watch, cleaning of work area(s), etc.

  • Use various Machine shop equipment such as a bandsaw, drill press, Bridgeport, stationary grinder, parts washer, etc.

  • Proficient in welding practices, including but not limited to; SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, Brazing and Soldering processes

  • Proficient knowledge, skills and abilities required to properly identify and safely and effectively use and maintain hand tools and portable power tools on a routine basis while performing maintenance tasks

  • Proficient with operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility or similar industry including but not limited to, chain & flight conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, overhead cranes, and various style pumps

  • Ability to lead small projects as assigned by the Lead Mechanic, Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager

  • Demonstrate operational knowledge of facility equipment and systems

  • Works rotating shifts, if requested

  • Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicate clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio, or face to face

  • Follows standard safety and environmental procedures, correct safety, and environmental hazards, and report them to the Shift Supervisor immediately. Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety and environmental rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Maintains and follows all Company environmental compliance, health and safety requirements, policies, procedures, and rules within

  • Completes all required Environmental Management System and Compliance Training

  • Complete the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed

    Preferred Requirements:

  • High School diploma (GED)

  • Tech Schooling Experience

  • Proven mechanical abilities in previous jobs, 4 -- 6 years of mechanical background or experience working in a construction type environment

  • Proficient with Oxy-Acetylene and Plasma torch usage

  • Ability to read and record measurements with precision

  • Qualified in structural welding in accordance with D1.1 and R certified; qualified in tube welding per ASME Section XI

    Certificates and Licenses:

  • Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

  • Operate fire extinguishing equipment ranging from handheld extinguishers to 200 lb portable units

  • Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 12" by 16" manways

    PPE Required:

Work in areas under adverse conditions that may require the donning and use of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, the following with average fatigue:

  • Negative pressure respirator

  • Self-contained breathing apparatus (steel or composite bottle)
