    A little about the position:

    Job Summary

    As a Mechanical Engineer, Value Engineering, you will spearhead value engineering projects from idea to commercialization in Auto Covers business unit and support other business units as needed. The role will be focused on executing and managing changes of product design, material supplier and manufacturing for cost improvement.

    Some of What You Will Do:

  • Assess and develop project proposal, determine verification approach and validation plan, conduct test plan, and review test results with cross functional stakeholders.

  • Understand the function of products, identify the effects of change and determine evaluation actions by using DFMEA/DRBFM etc. cause-and-effect analysis tools, develop solid validation test plan, lead the discussion with stakeholders on the agreement of validation test plan.

  • Build test samples, conduct engineering lab test and field installation test according to test plan, collect and analyze test data, draw conclusions, and write comprehensive test report.

  • Organize and run project review with stakeholder and communicate project progress with cross-functional team.

  • Execute product change process by collaborating with manufacturer, marketing and supply chain etc. cross functional team for smooth project execution and implementation.

  • Actively participate idea generation workshop.

  • Analyze cost of current products and competitors’ products and identify improvement opportunities by applying Cost-Function Analysis, Should-Cost, Benchmarking, Tear-down etc. tools.

  • Execute project according to defined timeline and use Daily Management tools to drive progress, and counter measure roadblocks timely to ensure project on time completion.

  • Interact with supplier to resolve DFM issue and ensure product quality intact during the change process.

  • Integrate GD&T principles into engineering drawings, perform tolerance stack-up analysis, maintain accurate revision of design change, update BOM and issue Engineering Change Order

  • Participate in routine engineering meetings and present project progress

  • Up to 10% overnight travel can be expected.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What You Bring to the Table: (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 7+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.

  • Ability to work with minimum guidance and track record of running project from beginning to finish.

  • A out-of-box mind willing to challenge the unknown, and a goal-oriented mindset driving for getting-thing-done.

  • A strong commitment to accountability, collaboration and execution.

  • Have effective written/oral communication skills.

  • Ability to establish and foster strong cross functional relationships across the company.

  • Broad knowledge in product design and manufacturing technology Proficient with 2D drawing, 3D modeling (SolidWorks preferred), PDM, GD&T, tolerance stack up, DFMEA, FEA etc. design and analysis tools.

  • Design experience with sheet metal fabrication, plastic molding, casting etc.

  • Knowledge and experience in metal and polymer material selection.

  • A strong hands-on ability for building test sample and operating test equipment.

  • Strong problem-solving ability.

  • Understand well engineering principles and able to apply hand calculations/handbook methods and FEA modeling where appropriate.

  • Strong understanding of failure mode and analysis, how to set up analysis and test methods to ensure failure modes are clearly understood and margin to failure is quantified.

  • Be comfortable developing test procedure and conducting functional testing, interpretate the results, and correlate with product performance.

  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment and manufacturing setting.

  • Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel (including spreadsheets/databases).

  • Experience with Value Engineering in product design update for cost reduction is preferred.

Salary Range: Insert Salary Range : $85,000-$125,000/year.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across US geographic markets. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.

Bonus: MIB- Tier 3-10% of base pay
