Job Description:
The Network Engineer - Consultant supports the stable operation of the in-house computer network (LAN/WAN). This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring network availability. The person also diagnoses, resolves, and documents network problems and their solutions. Consultant-level professional experienced in all aspects of networking and technology. Encompasses full knowledge required within the networking area. Functions independently with minimal oversight and direction. Instructs and guides other technical professionals.
Job Essentials
Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products.
Maintains all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, wireless, DHCP and UPSs.
Monitors and tests network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Receives and responds to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails.
Performs on-site analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users. Recommends and implements corrective hardware and software solutions, including off-site repair.
Recommends, schedules, and performs network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
Performs network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.
Prepares, maintains, and adheres to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.
Provides training and support to client services staff on network issues.
Provides guidance to other members of the team as required.
Performs data closet management.
Performs network deployment and configuration.
Collaborates with network architects to ensure compliance with network standards.
Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation.
Prepares and ensures accuracy of documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science/information management/engineering. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Four years of experience in a network engineering related field.
- and -
Eight years of networking experience, or any combination of equivalent education in experience in computer science, information management, or related engineering field.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) skill set.
- and -
Working technical knowledge of LAN/WAN/Wireless networking.
- and -
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
- and -
Demonstrated ability to operate network component analysis tools.
- and -
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- and -
Hands-on troubleshooting experience.
- and -
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- and -
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- and -
Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.

ITIL certification.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
