LES's primary objective is to deliver cost-effective, dependable, and sustainably sourced electricity to its customers. Our Geospatial Operations team recognizes the significance of this objective and collaborates closely with our Operations, Engineering, Construction, and Technology teams to uphold it. Our primary responsibility in this collaboration is to ensure the accuracy and accessibility of data within the enterprise GIS system, enabling our internal stakeholders to make informed decisions that benefit our customers. Due to this increasing demand for resources, we are restructuring our team to fill additional leadership roles. Currently, we are in search of an individual who possesses a deep understanding of electric utility operations and is passionate about upholding LES GIS standards. This person shall also be capable of training new and current staff on electric utility infrastructure concepts.

In this role, the typical work week comprises of five days, primarily spent in the office. However, flexibility is integral, and often, the schedule may involve three days of office work and two days dedicated to fieldwork. Field assignments involve inspecting both new and existing equipment, including opening energized equipment for field data verification, as well as labeling and tagging distribution assets as needed to uphold the accuracy of our GIS, Engineering, and Outage Management System. Our team uses ArcMap to create, remove, and maintain features and feature data, including electrical connectivity. We also read and mark up construction prints and schematics while collaborating closely with T & D Construction, Engineering and Operations teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES

Assists with leadership support of assigned department staff and advanced-level design projects related to Geospatial Services. Specific responsibilities include integrated workforce development and overseeing work of assigned staff, conducting field research, maintaining departmental standards, and other Geospatial-related programs and policies. Completion of duties will require the opening and inspection of energized, high-voltage electrical equipment or entering electrical substations. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Leads staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, providing input on performance evaluations, monitoring employee performance, ensuring staff are trained, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

  • Completes field survey of projects. Inspects, collects, and verifies data. Labels electrical facilities for use with GIS system records per LES procedures. Completion of duties will require the opening and inspection of energized, high-voltage electrical equipment and entering electrical substations.

  • Leads large, ongoing, and complex projects for area of assignment.

  • Performs QAQC and auditing functions to ensure quality and compliance with department standards for assigned staff. This shall include day-to-day operations and project-related work.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Advanced proficiency with GIS software, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), Autodesk software including Map3D and SBS Automated Utility Design.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree in Architectural Engineering Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or related field, and

  • At least five years of related work experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
