Jacobs Lead Industrial Mechanic - Liberal, KS (1st Shift) in Liberal, Kansas

As a working Lead Mechanic in Liberal KS, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance on water/wastewater treatment plants and related facilities equipment on all shifts. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment; lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; replace packing in pumps or valves; replace bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tune engines, set valve clearance, clean, and adjust regulators; examine equipment failures to identify cause and to prevent recurrences; and install and sets up new equipment. You’ll also clean and paint interior and exterior equipment and buildings; lean out pipes and perform other plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required; use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld; perform duties of painter in their absence; assist in keeping maintenance records. As a working lead you will also be responsible to lead and train others in your department, set schedules, order parts, schedule work, writing maintenance and financial reports, new scopes of work, work with other departments (training, equipment needs, etc.) and perform other duties as required. Shift Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

• Five years of experience in the maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and related equipment, or similar industrial setting

• Two years of electrical experience working on pump motors, controls and other equipment related to wastewater treatment.

• Have been trained in NFP70E.

• Will be expected to be an active part of the leadership team.

• Possess a valid driver’s license with no major infractions.

• Proficient in Some experience the use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Accounting, Purchasing, Bookkeeping.

• Proficient in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and instruments used in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of electrical and electronic control systems.

• Familiarity with the principles and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations and process control

• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification.

• Knowledge of related state and federal laws and regulations

The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to service equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, push a push-type mower; wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
