MIT Lincoln Laboratory Graphic Artist - Tactical Space Systems in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Tactical Space Systems Group (Group 96) develops technologies and prototypes to enhance the performance and resilience of U.S. space systems and to provide flexible new space capabilities to the U.S. Government. The Group executes both large-scale system prototypes including satellite payloads and ground systems, as well as earlier stage technology development and demonstration programs with partner groups across the laboratory. The group is predominantly composed of scientists and engineers with expertise in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electronics and software/firmware.
Job Description
The Graphic Artist will be responsible for the design, layout, and produc ti on of presenta ti ons, technical illustra ti ons, and posters in both electronic and printed media formats. The ar tis t will create these presenta ti ons leveraging the technical results and rough sketches generated by the technical staff. Common tasks include the artistic rendering of technical concepts and the formatting/merging of technical data into presenta ti ons using Adobe Illustrator and Microso ft PowerPoint. The ar ti st will be required to communicate effec ti vely with technical staff, and to adapt to different security and design standards in different environments. Addi ti onal responsibili ti es include designing marke ti ng materials for conferences, developing enhancements to the graphics team workflow, and archiving graphic materials (e.g. presenta ti ons, clip art).
Requirements
BA/BFA in Communica ti on Design, Graphic Design, Illustra ti on or related field desired
Minimum of 5 years of graphics design experience working in a high-pressure environment
Excellent knowledge of Microso ft PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Indesign, and Adobe Photoshop required
Web design and video edi ti ng experience is desirable but not required
Able to work independently under ti me-cri ti cal deadlines handling mul ti ple simultaneous tasks
Excellent interpersonal skills
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance
