The Vice President of Information Technology is responsible for the establishment and execution of IT strategy, ensuring alignment with overall technology vision to achieve business success. This role provides technology leadership and strategic direction for business projects, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, information security services, and applications to support the Valvoline Global functional areas. The VP, IT also leads teams who are responsible for the design, development, implementation, maintenance and analysis of the key information systems including software applications, back-office, disaster recovery, and customer support systems.

This is a high-impact role to the overall organization and requires the level of balanced leadership coupled with financial acumen (significant budget and CAPEX spends), mixed with enough expertise in the various IT pillars so that critical decisions can be made based on experience and problem solving history. Being the right cultural fit is critically important as the organization while broad and diverse has a significant collaborative style.

How You’ll Make an Impact

We need a quick learner who can become a subject matter expert in our global environment. In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Coaches/mentors/collaborates with direct reports and skip-level team members to create an overall inclusive community for the group that holds each other accountable and establishes clear career-path choices for those employees who want a career in IT while providing opportunities for cross-functional career growth across the Valvoline Global organization

  • Collaborates with the company’s leaders to set the strategy and roadmap for all IT functions and technologies to meet current and future business goals.

  • Partner with Digital and Analytics leadership to drive the investment roadmap. This includes not only the implementation and adoption of new technologies, applications and capabilities, but it is also expected to significantly change and push forward the business and IT models.

  • Provides annual planning, budgeting, and priority setting efforts for IT; develops and controls annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT; leads an effective governance process which includes the prioritization of IT investments and initiatives; forcing both the business and IT to closely align IT investments with the achievement of business deliverables. Includes effective communication, cascaded through the organization, of decisions, priorities and expected outcomes.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor, and builds and maintains relationships with executives and business unit leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of information technology services to meet those needs, and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities

  • Provides strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation and support of IT products, services, systems, and programs that fulfill the needs of the business, including solution architecture management, application management, security and risk management, and infrastructure and operations support management

  • Directs the development of IT sourcing strategy and provides executive oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management; manages and builds strong external relationships with vendors and consultants.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline Global from time to time in its sole discretion. These might include but not be limited to advanced education/technology conferences, internal cross-functional leadership team participation, town hall presentations, thought leadership and coaching/mentorship of junior high performance employees

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; MBA or Masters degree highly preferred

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership (preferred blend of IT and non-IT leadership). This experience should include strategic leadership in an IT function that is closely linked with the business. Prefer leadership experience within the global consumer goods industry; manufacturing company experience also beneficial

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Proven experience with digital transformations via leveraging technology to achieve new and different business strategies, particularly in an environment requiring omni-channel enablement, eCommerce, customer interactions and analytics, mobility, data security and innovation.

  • Proven experience managing complex cybersecurity issues, experience with PCI compliance and Europe’s new GDI standards.

  • Experience with SAP S4 HANA and SFDC, including SAP capabilities in finance, BPC, supply chain, manufacturing and EH&S.

  • Experience with data management, reporting tools and analytics to achieve better business decision making and a competitive market advantage.

  • Extensive experience partnering with service providers, both infrastructure and applications. Proven ability to maximize value from these relationships by strategically selecting the right partners, negotiating contracts, and measuring and managing high performance, with continued improvements.

  • Proven experience with strategic decisions related to technologies, including the appropriate balance of short-term value versus longer term fit and flexibility. Experience leveraging cloud-based solutions is a plus.

  • Experience running a onshore/offshore team, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness of total team operations.

  • Proven ability to navigate across organization boundaries and influence senior executives. Can successfully communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and gain the confidence of and credibility with others at all levels.

  • Demonstrated team building and people development skills and experience. Capable of retaining critical talent while supplementing with new skills from inside and outside the organization. Has successfully led a large organization through times of complex change.

  • Certifications in (one or many) SAP, Salesforce, Information Security tools, and Project Management also desired
