PRIME AE Group, Inc. (www.primeeng.com), a multi-faceted A&E firm with 20 offices in 10 States and over 475 employees throughout the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Northeast, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a TSMO | Senior Traffic Project Engineer in one of our Transportation offices (Jacksonville, Tampa, Lexington, Harrisburg, Columbus, Fairfax, Richmond or Baltimore) working on a hybrid or remote basis.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will perform work for our diverse clientele which includes VDOT, DDOT, MDOT SHA, MDTA, DDOT, and various jurisdictions in Virginia.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with traffic analysis and design of transportation projects.
• Design signing, pavement markings, traffic control signals, temporary traffic control devices and lighting.
• Complete traffic engineering studies, traffic analyses and modeling, and transportation management plans (TMP).
• Evaluate traffic operations, signal timing, signal phasing, coordination, safety, congestion, bicycle and pedestrian needs for intersections and corridors.
• Assist with the development of preliminary design through construction documents, cost estimates, and specifications development.
• Assist with review of traffic studies and other traffic engineering documents.

Minimum Requirements:

• 5 - 10 years' experience in Traffic Engineering or TSMO/ITS.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required. Master's degree preferred.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• An attitude and commitment to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to analyze complex traffic issues and alternates and prepare cogent recommendations.
• Experience in the design of traffic control devices including signing, pavement markings, traffic control signals and temporary traffic control devices.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, M UTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual and ADA regulations.
• Working knowledge of traffic modeling including Synchro/SimTraffic, CORSIM, and HCS.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
• PE is required and PTOE is preferred.
• Experience working on traffic engineering projects for Virginia Department of Transportation is required and ability to on projects in multiple states.
