Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • The Team Leaders responsibilities include providing guidance, clinical expertise, mentoring and functional direction to members of the health care team while optimizing available resources to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

  • Act as a clinical resource for perioperative services staff members within the specialty using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards.

  • Advise the perioperative team in areas of specialty expertise.

  • Assist staff members in evaluating practice and in creating strategies for further improvement.

  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills.

  • Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care, i.e. “huddle”, etc.

  • Operationally and fiscally manage the specialty.

  • Mentor team members within the specialty as required.

  • Assist with evaluating staff member’s performance as requested.

  • Prepares the operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of case. Assist with room turnover in a timely manner. Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding the patient to the appropriate person (i.e. physician, clinical manager, or nursing supervisor) and records those observations accurately and precisely.

  • Anticipates the need for and provides appropriate supplies and instruments for each assignment. Active participation in execution of service line supply, equipment and education.

  • Responds to physician’s requests and communicates effectively and courteously.

  • Counts all instruments, identifies and monitors all medications, and preserves any specimens received during surgery.

  • Participates in unit activities such as new employee orientation, new procedure and equipment orientation as well as becoming involved in the unit meetings and other committees and educational offerings.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Surgical Tech Program

Required Licensure and Certifications

BLS-CPR – within 5 days

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

One year OR

Pay Range

$22.89 - $33.20 /hour
