Job Summary | The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture Food and Environment, department of Forestry and Natural Resources seeks a candidate with strong communication skills for the Graphic Artist position. The UK Department of Forestry and Natural Resources develop solutions for the critical issues facing our woodlands today and in the future. The Graphic Artist is a key member of the team, working with department faculty and staff in by creating graphics and managing the distribution of high-quality resources following university brand standards. Including, but not limited to, electronic and printed newsletters, general marketing materials, and alumni materials. This will also involve maintaining databases for the distribution of materials, creation of e-newsletters, reminders of events (sent to department and university attendees, UK alumni, and program participants via Constant Contact), and creating and distributing survey results using Qualtrics. The position also provides periodic clerical and support assistance to the department chair’s office, including assistance with IT support, organizing security patches and software updates. The position works under the direction of the Extension Communications Officer, this will assist Extension faculty, specialists, and associates with the design, layout, and production of publications (including, but not limited to, factsheets, newsletters, flyers, and brochures). In addition, this position will assist with the creation of online resources including Constant Contact e-newsletters, and event promotion graphics for social media following the university brand standards. This position will also be responsible for editing videos (e.g. From the Woods Today episodes, KY Woodland Owners Short Course), uploading segments to YouTube and Libsyn (podcast), and creating needed graphics for promotion (e.g. thumbnails, social media); and (3) Under the direction of the Extension Communications Officer, assist with Forestry and Natural Resource Extension programming, including facilitating and assisting with engagement of the Extension office and personnel with the public, stakeholders, and partners. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the implementation of Extension’s publication peer review process, event coordination (including managing registration and facilitating presentations), compiling evaluations from programs, and assisting with Extension events.
