Tuscarora Intermediate Unit Instructor of Youth Projects in Lewistown, Pennsylvania

TIU Community Education and Workforce Services invites applicants for a full-time Instructor of Youth Projects.  Qualified candidate will provide social-emotional learning instruction to elementary students in the Juniata County School District.  To apply for this position please complete an application on our website at http://www.tiu11.org.

Instructor Youth Projects for the TIU Community Education Workforce Services shall be directly responsible to the CEWS Director and/or assigned staff for supervision and evaluation.

Fundamental Duties/Essential Functions 1. Provide instruction, in groups or individually, in a variety of levels and subject areas including: at risk youth programming, life skills, and social and emotional learning. 2. Prepare instructional curriculum based on scientific, evidence based research. 3. Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids and classroom presentations to meet individual needs and abilities. 4. Assess participants' needs and skills as prescribed by program. 5. Communicate assessment results with participants, staff, partners, and agencies as appropriate. 6. Instruct participants individually and in small groups using a variety of methods including explicit, contextualized, and computer-aided instruction. 7. Maintain attendance and confidential records. 8. Provide services in schools, office, and other settings as assigned. 9. Participate in program improvement and professional development activities. 10. Provide services to participants that will produce required program goals and performance outcomes which are compliant with state and federal program guidelines. 11. Maintain records using required program database or reporting system. 12. Provide summer programming to include field trips, educational activities, community service projects, and social events. 13. Develop and maintain a working relationship with local school district personnel and local social service organizations. 14. Participate in meetings with partner schools, agencies, and agency teams. 15. Complete required program reports and documents using appropriate technology. 16. Lift, move, carry and otherwise transport supplies and office equipment within office and to external locations. 17. Perform other duties as assigned by the director or supervisory staff.

Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 35 pounds. 5. Ability to use technology proficiently in all aspects of position. 6. Ability to present oneself in a business-like manner to include personal appearance and a pleasant demeanor to others. 7. Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality. 8. Ability to work well with others as part of an instructional, case management team. 9. Ability to collaborate with external business, education, and social service partners. 10. Ability to manage time/schedule and make adjustments promptly. 11. Ability to organize and present engaging interactive instructional programs. 12. Ability to apply concepts and information acquired from meetings, conferences or related literature to accomplish project goals. 13. Ability to provide personal, reliable vehicle for travel requirements.

Qualification Standards Education: Possess an associate degree in a human services/educated related field OR have completed 60 semester hours in a teacher preparation program OR 5 years of relevant experience required. 

Experience: serving the needs of children, adolescents, and families.
