Fedcap Vocational Evaluator in Lewiston, Maine

    Position Summary:

    At Families Forward, Employment and Training Instructors deliver exemplary content driven curriculum which includes the Power of Possible to prepare program participants for employment and fully engage in the requirements of their Family Contract Amendment. Work Readiness Instructors are also responsible for the delivery of training to assist FF Staff with professional development.

    Essential Functions

  • Upholds all agency policies and expectations in performing their job.

  • Establishes trust and rapport with program participants to effectively engage them.

  • Facilitates life skills, wellness works and sector/employer-based training.

  • Delivers monthly professional development training for staff on standard training topics (HIPPA, Work Habits and Professional Boundaries, Using SharePoint, and others).

  • Coordinates presenters from other community agencies to discuss topics pertinent to program participants (budgeting, tax preparation, nutrition, parenting).

  • Consults with vocational evaluation and employment services staff regarding curriculum development and participant training needs.

  • Plans and develop materials needed for each class using handouts, workbooks, web- based resources and other teaching tools.

  • Gives daily homework assignments to participants attending classes and tracks performance/progress with position of interest and critical competency form completion. Takes the initiative to contact and reschedule participants who miss appointments with them.

  • Completes weekly case notes for each class participant highlighting topics reviewed, participation, progress towards job readiness and next steps.

  • Works with Placement Specialists to organize hiring fairs, industry panels and practice interview sessions with area employers.

  • Oversees activities and offerings for participants who conducting job search activities in the Business Networking Center.

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or equivalent relevant experience required.

  • 3-5 years’ experience working with individuals seeking opportunities for employment preferred

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/ Travel:

  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but will be determined by your supervisor.

  • Some travel (multiple days a month) may be required to cover duties at other opportunity center locations in local area.
