Central Maine Medical Center HR Business Partner in Lewiston, Maine

Partners with assigned business units/teams to incorporate human resources expertise to support business strategies, priorities, issues, and needs to maximize departmental performance. Provides strategic direction and guidance to all levels of leadership, on the development and implementation of workforce best practices to advance the mission, vision, service standards and culture of the organization. Provides team member relations support directly to team members and indirectly through the Team Member Relations Specialists, including managing poor performance, managing conflict, addressing retention issues, etc. Identifies issues or trends that suggest changes to policies and procedures. Researches and advises on the latest developments and trends in human resources policy interpretation, labor relations, regulatory compliance, and federal/state/local law.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Consults and advises leadership to align HR strategy to business strategy.

  • Supports and consults managers and provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of team members, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.

  • Manages and resolves complex team member relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.

  • Works closely with management and team members to improve work environment, build culture, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, talent management, and succession planning.

  • Provides performance management guidance to Team Member Relations Specialists and leadership (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Identifies training needs for business units and provide team members and leadership development support.

  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team as a whole to develop solutions, programs and policies.

  • Acts as change agent to business through process design and approaches that support change and transformation.

  • Supports orientation and team member training needs. Is a designated HR Trainer.

  • Partners with the HR teams to support team members with for Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, L&D, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).

  • PHR or SPHR (preferred)

  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience.

  • Experience in the healthcare industry (preferred).

  • Multi-site location client support experience (preferred)

  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
