Actalent Mechanical Design Engineer in Lewis Center, Ohio

Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a client specializing in designing and manufacturing industrial automated equipment. This is a 9-month Contract-to-Hire role, with eligibility for direct hire post the contract period. The position is based in the Greater Columbus region and offers accrued PTO, holiday pay, a 401k to contribute to, and benefits/insurance during the contract period.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a Project Manager and other team members to assess project assignments and ideas.

  • Interact and communicate with customers.

  • Design safe and cost-effective machines, parts models, and assemblies using customer requirements.

  • Detail parts and assemblies, including tolerance drawings and releasing them to the machine shop.

  • Support the machine shop with part detail drawings.

  • Research and order purchase content for machine design including pneumatic cylinders, valves, air prep systems, bearings, motors, drive systems, sensors, and other devices.

  • Document the Bill of Materials (BoM).

  • Interface with and support Assembly, Electrical, and Software Design teams.

Essential Skills

  • Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within 3D design for automated equipment.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD design, and 3D modeling.

  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with Bill of Materials (BoM) documentation.

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (+8 years as a Design Engineer within SolidWorks doing equipment design).

  • At least 5 years of experience in 3D design for automated equipment or exposure to automated equipment design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in machine design of concepts, parts models, and assemblies.

  • Ability to research and order purchase content for machine design including pneumatic cylinders, valves, air prep systems, bearings, motors, drive systems, sensors, and other devices.

Work Environment

You will work in an office environment with some interactions on the shop floor. Our company offers a supportive atmosphere where you can work on new and exciting projects every week, providing an opportunity to sharpen your design skills and become a Subject Matter Expert.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.27
