Job Title: Construction Production Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Production Manager to oversee and manage skilled trade operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction management, particularly in carpentry, and will be responsible for supervising teams, coordinating projects, ensuring quality control, and enforcing safety protocols.
Responsibilities
Supervise and manage teams, ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and according to quality standards.
Allocate tasks to foremen and ensure that work assignments are carried out efficiently and to the highest standard.
Interview and hire all skilled trade employees, including foremen, carpenters, painters, and laborers.
Collaborate with foremen, superintendents, project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure the work aligns with the overall project plan and specifications.
Monitor project schedules, deadlines, and resource needs for skilled trade-related tasks, adjusting as necessary.
Ensure project team has production plan and strategy in place for each project, assist with technical support, material staging, project crew staffing, production goals, and schedule deadlines to create and maintain a safe and productive environment.
Lead, mentor, and train foremen and skilled trade workers, ensuring they have the necessary tools, materials, and knowledge to perform their work effectively.
Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure continuous development and skill improvement within the team.
Inspect skilled trade work to ensure it meets safety regulations, building codes, and project specifications.
Resolve any issues related to quality, performance, or safety, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Enforce and promote strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
Work with internal Safety Manager to facilitate and conduct safety training and monitor safety compliance on job sites.
Assist with managing the skilled trade budgets, ensuring efficient use of materials, labor, and resources.
Monitor inventory levels, order materials as needed, and maintain a cost-effective approach to production.
Prepare and maintain regular reports on project progress, labor efficiency, and budget status.
Document all activities, changes, and issues related to skilled trade tasks, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
Address any issues or challenges related to the work, from manpower shortages to material delays, and implement effective solutions.
Provide technical support when needed to the project teams for tasks required during the projects.
Maintain a proactive approach to resolving potential obstacles to production schedules.
Work closely with project superintendents to ensure projects are staffed adequately to meet safety, quality, and schedule demands.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 10 years in a skilled trade and construction management, with a focus on overseeing carpenters.
High school diploma or equivalent; degree in construction management or related field is preferred.
OSHA certification or equivalent safety training preferred.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
In-depth technical knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, and tools.
Understanding of labor production and production reporting.
Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
Experience with project management software and reporting tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to lift heavy materials and work in construction environments.
Comfortable working outdoors and at heights as necessary.
Work Environment
This position involves working in a dynamic construction environment, which includes outdoor and at-height work. The role requires the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions. Safety protocols and regulations are strictly enforced to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00
