Commander, Navy Installations MWR Food Service Worker (Spuds Restaurant) in Lemoore, California

Summary This position is located in the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine food service preparation, busser and dishwasher responsibilities as required. Responsibilities Provides assistance in food preparation area by performing a variety of tasks in connection with the preparation of a variety of food involving the operation of ovens, microwaves, deep fryer, and steamers, as well as preparation of, pizza, salads, cold and hot sandwiches, pasta dishes, etc. Performs housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness and safety of assigned spaces. May remove soiled dishes form tables and carries to kitchen. May clean soiled dishes manually and/or with the use of a dishwasher. Clean, scrubs, wipes tables and counters and other service equipment, seeps and mops floors. Arranges salads, desserts, cold beverages, etc., sticks condiments stand, self-service milk and ice cream cabinets and hot and cold dispensers, replenishes stock as necessary. Performs other related duties. A qualified candidate possess the following: Must have skill to organize assignments, to meet meal schedules. Must understand food terminology, measurements and serving information in standardized recipes and regular and modified menus. Skill in performing basic arithmetic and the ability to read instructions are required. Ability to maintain records. Must be able to pass health screening for food handling. Must apply knowledge of general sanitation principles to safeguard food against spoilage and waste. Required to have a thorough understanding of routine methods and procedures used in all functional area of the food service operation and skill to assist in training lower or new food workers in routine duties. Must be able to lift up to 20lbs. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement. The IRC includes a check of the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) records in the Alcohol and Drug Management Information Tracking System (ADMITS) database, a check of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) records in the Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS), and an installation security/base check via the Navy Justice Information System (NJIS) database and/or other law enforcement systems. This information will be used to determine suitability for the applicant in accordance with criteria for automatic and presumptive disqualifiers, per DoDI 1402.05. Per Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.05 Background Checks on Individuals in DoD Child Care Services Programs, incumbents will be automatically disqualified for a conviction in either civilian or military court (to include any general, special, or summary court-martial conviction or if they received non-judicial punishment [under Article 15 or chapter 47 of Title 10, U.S.C]) for any of the following: a sexual offense, any criminal offense involving a child victim, or a felony drug offense. Additionally, the incumbent will be automatically disqualified if he/she has been held to be negligent in a civil adjudication or administrative proceeding concerning the death of or serious injury to a child or dependent person entrusted to the individual's care. Non-U.S. citizens with fewer than three years of recent residential history in the U.S. may be determined ineligible for employment. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required.
