U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief LEGAL ASSISTANT in Lemoore, California

Summary You will serve as a LEGAL ASSISTANT in the ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE of Fleet Readiness Center West (FRCW). Responsibilities You will assist the Command Legal Officer in support of legal issues. You will plan and coordinate all non-judicial punishment (NJP) proceedings in accordance with regulations, policies, procedures and precedents. You will Prepare preliminary Investigation Reports, Report and Disposition of Offense, scripts for XOI/OIC's Mast and other pertinent documents. You will liaison with Staff Judge Advocate Office to obtain Security Incident Complaint Reports, subpoenas, barment letters, and other documents. You will review Congressional inquiries and requests from other Government officials regarding personnel, legal and disciplinary matters. You will perform legal and technical research and obtain all known documentation required to formulate substantive responses and prepare rough drafts. You will maintain established office files and records, tickler system, log entries and files on progress and disposition of cases and investigations. You will assist in administering Government Travel Credit Card Agency Program for the command. You will process military leave requests and maintain civilian employee timecards. You will advise Officer in Charge and Maintenance Officer in Legal Officers absence on the appropriate Articles of the UCMJ. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector processing and maintaining legal documentation for a Command Legal Program. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
