Commander, Navy Installations AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL) in Lemoore, California

Summary You will serve as a Special Category Facility Watch Supervisor/Control Tower Watch Supervisor on either the day, evening or weekend shift in the Air Traffic Control Facility (ATCF) at NAVAL AIR STATION LEMOORE. Responsibilities You will operate as a Control Tower Watch Supervisor for the Control Tower as well as in other positions to include Flight Data, Clearance Delivery, Ground control, Local control, Tower Supervisor and Special Category Facility Watch Supervisor. You will be assigned on a rotational basis as Tower Supervisor having responsibility for the overall control tower, class D airspace, and ATC personnel during the assigned shift performing separation and control of air traffic or airspace functions. You will ensure the use of proper control procedures and techniques by assigned personnel, and ensure effective coordination within the facility and between facilities. You will develop training curriculum, course outlines, instructional material, visual aids, simulated control situations, etc., for teaching particular procedures of operations applicable to the control tower. You will administer qualification, rating, proficiency and refresher examinations. You will serve as an ATC Specialist providing ATC services and maintain certification on all operating positions and clearance delivery. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assuring proper separation of aircraft by providing air traffic control (ATC) and instructions through all Control Tower operating positions - Local Control, Ground Control, Clearance Delivery, and Flight Data - to experienced and student pilots, other Tower and Radar controllers, and ground vehicles; 2) Providing ATC services in complex airspace to a wide range of military and civilian aircraft under both visual and instrument flight rules; 3) Training air traffic controllers in different positions within a Control Tower; and 4) Providing assistance in ensuring ATC operations, methods, and techniques are followed in a safe manner. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Position will be on either the day, evening, or weekend shift. You will be required to work evenings or weekends as needed. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to make rapid precise judgment, remain calm under conditions that are often very stressful, coordinate many different operations, and adjust rapidly to changes, patterns, and tempo of the controlled activity. In addition, incumbent must meet the minimum physical requirements for an air traffic controller as specified in the medical certification requirements outlined in the ATC NATOPS 00-80T-114 and the Office of Personnel Management Classification and Qualifications General Schedule Qualification Standards for GS-2152 series.
