Continuous Improvement Specialist

Salary Range: £37,000 - £65,000 per year

VF Corporation is looking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Specialist. This exciting new position is based at our UK distribution centre in Bardon, Leicestershire, UK.

Let’s Talk about the Role

Working initially as part of our DC Project Team, the DC Continuous Improvement Specialist will develop and deploy Continuous Improvement strategy through the implementation and governance of the site CI framework.

The role will grow to deliver best practice methods and training across our EMEA Distribution network.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Building site capability through training and development of operations teams in lean / CI principles

  • Using problem solving interventions to improve efficiency, reduce costs and remove defects / wastes.

  • Coach process standards including documented Process Flows, Standard Operating Procedures and Value Stream Mapping.

  • Work with associates at all levels to understand where improvements can be made, leading the users to make the change through recognised lean methods.

  • Coach and carry out root cause analysis using recognised tools e.g. 5why, 8d, Fishbone to ensure that remedial actions are understood/delivered to mitigate the risk of re-occurrence.

  • Measure the benefit of process improvements through a financial pay-back to the business. Build efficiency improvements into system processes and through the change management process.

  • Work alongside the Flow Room team to ensure workflow (waving) delivery & Management of system parameters are captured and understood to ensure optimal flow of product throughout the systems.

  • Work with the Lead Project Manager to deliver testing, feasibility and hyper care for future, and current projects and initiatives.

  • Take best practice from different EMEA sites, and implementing best practice across VF EU network.

Skills for Success

You should be someone who can demonstrate that they have previously delivered continuous improvement initiatives in either Supply Chain, Retail, Manufacturing or Engineering environments with:

  • Experience in building effective relationships with key stakeholders at all levels.

  • A broad knowledge of Continuous Improvement/Lean methodology and the practical application of these principles, tools and processes.

  • Good written and verbal communications skills, and an understanding of how to communicate with different audiences.

  • A strong analytical background who is able to understand data and systems flow.

  • An understanding of Process Flows, Value Streams and Identifying Waste in processes.

  • An understanding of the functionality and operation of automated distribution centres is desired but not essential. As is previous experience working in a large-scale automated distribution facility.
