GEHA Senior Azure Data Developer in Lee's Summit, Missouri

Design, develop, implement, optimize and support cloud-based solutions to meet the business needs of GEHA and subsidiaries. Lead Enterprise Data Lake built on Azure. Provides technical leadership in application of design and development fundamentals to cloud platforms providing the best practices. Plans and coordinates consolidating data from various sources into a unified cloud-based enterprise data lake. Follow governance and quality control to maintain data integrity. Works closely with the business staff and technical staff to analyze business problems, develop system solutions, and plan training requirements for implementation. Provides input related to the technical performance evaluation for the Development staff.

SKILLS

  • Consults with analysts, architects, and stakeholders to support data modeling, analysis, and reporting needs. Suggests alternative approaches to meet user requirements.

  • Design and implement scalable and secure data storage solutions in the cloud, ensuring optimal performance and accessibility.

  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of datasets that enable analytics and operational dashboards.

  • Document data engineering processes, create data flow diagrams, and maintain metadata for data lineage and cataloging.

  • Develops and maintains documentation of programs, user guides, policies and procedures.

  • Implement technologies that supports the enterprise data strategy while developing and implementing the Data Lake/Lakehouse architecture utilizing best practices.

  • Define and Implement Data Engineering standards, best practices and design patterns.

  • Define and Implement Data Engineering workflows that improve quality and reduce the time to release new features along with designing and implement CI/CD workflows and pipelines.

  • Mentor other members of the team in new technology and skills.

  • Communicates project progress and status to the Manager, Project Manager, and other development team members.

  • Make technology recommendations to ensure compliance with data governance and security policies, including data encryption and access controls.

  • Evaluates employee performance and deliverables when managing a development team project

  • May determine training needs, mentor and recommend selection, termination, promotion, and reassignment of subordinates to their manager.

  • Must maintain knowledge of emerging cloud technologies and data engineering practices to recommend and adopt innovations that improve data systems

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a Computer Information Services or a related field.

  • Requires 6+ years’ experience of IT Development with advanced experience working on Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse. Snowflake experience is a plus

  • Additional years of qualifying work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Azure and experience implementing Azure Data Factory Pipelines using latest technologies and techniques

  • Knowledge of Azure Data Lake medallion architecture

  • Experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Server

  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft Software (SSIS, MS Visual Studio and MS Server Products), MS Office Products, SQL server products, scripting languages.

  • Requires effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary development teams.

  • Ability to move into projects and immediately apply knowledge and add value.

  • Has the ability to explain theories and reasoning behind decision making while seeing the big picture and risks

  • Experience leading a team of more junior employees providing guidance and expertise to help them learn

Preferred Experience:

  • Healthcare

  • Experience with MDM tools and implementation

  • Python programming skills

  • Snowflake

  • Experience developing Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is a plus

Work-at-home requirements

  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.

  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms

  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

The annual base salary range for this position is $103,252 - $145,548 USD.
