Sulzer Leeds is expanding, and we're seeking a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure our suppliers meet industry standards, Sulzer's stringent requirements, and project specifications. Your expertise will be crucial in minimizing non-conformance and ensuring timely delivery of compliant products.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide effective coaching and mentoring to your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development.

  • Process Management: Manage internal and supplier-facing processes, adapting and enhancing them as needed to optimize quality and efficiency.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Share your extensive knowledge with team members, contributing to the collective growth and expertise of the department.

  • Production Support: Support production schedules by overseeing external inspection tasks, ensuring they align with delivery requirements and client expectations.

  • Supplier Audits and Continuous Improvement: Manage the supplier audit schedule, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on findings.

  • Supplier Inspections: Conduct in-process, notified, and final inspections at supplier premises. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely resolution of any non-conformities.

  • Supplier Selection and Risk Mitigation: Utilize your supply chain experience and supplier performance data to assist in supplier selection and mitigate risks effectively.

  • Supplier Quality Kick-Off Meetings: Attend and facilitate kick-off meetings with suppliers to ensure clear understanding of project requirements and expectations.

  • Collaboration and Conflict Resolution: Liaise with relevant departments to resolve conflicts and clarify specifications, ensuring smooth project execution.

  • NCR Management: Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), communicate technical requirements for rectification, and minimize disruption to production schedules.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification aligned with relevant experience.

  • Experience in an inspection environment with qualifications such as NDT, CSWIP, NACE, or CompEx.

  • Proficiency in working with various materials and processes including castings, forgings, fabrications, machining, electrical, and paint.

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with SAP or similar systems.

  • Experience in a related industry with knowledge of industry practices and standards.

  • Familiarity with rotating equipment or similar packages.

  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis.

  • Valid UK Driving License.
