Dartmouth Health Simulation Technician in Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

Provides support services in the preparation, operation and maintenance of educational and assessment equipment, sessions and laboratories of the D-H Patient Safety Training Center (PSTC).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with faculty and center personnel to produce, set up, maintain, and organize equipment and materials for specific simulation sessions and events.

  • Prepares and breaks down simulators, task trainers, skills trainers, simulation rooms, and other equipment/props for lab events.

  • Performs day-to-day maintenance and cleansing of equipment, simulators, trainers and simulation rooms.

  • Prepares, programs and operates simulation equipment, and audio visual systems during simulation events, including maintaining simulators, task trainers, simulation rooms and other equipment/props in functioning order through monitoring of appropriate use.

  • Supports faculty, students and approved visitors in the use of simulation space and equipment.

  • Maintains connectivity to simulation equipment and audio visual systems, troubleshoot simulation software, hardware and network connectivity issues when needed.

  • Maintains and stocks sufficient inventory of durable and disposable supplies for lab events.

  • Supports/assists in role-playing applications, props placement and moulage set-up with manikins and standardized patients.

  • Inputs daily patient electronic health data for simulated patients in eDH.

  • Programs software to model simulator’s physiological responses to instructor and simulation development specialist’s specifications.

  • Assists Operations Manager and Director in other duties as assigned for optimum functionality of Center.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. Associate’s degree in technical, computer, or healthcare-related areas or certified EMT preferred.

  • Two to three year’s work experience that demonstrates strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs) and move manikins (more than 25 lbs) with the assistance of others.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills required; capable of taking direction from superiors, and working with students, faculty, staff and other customers

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to adapt to changes in role and schedule in order to best meet the needs of students, faculty, organization and community

  • Technical aptitude with ability to learn simulation programs.

  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings required
